About this listen

Amanda Kelly spent her entire life trying to control every aspect of it, while striving for perfection. Her obsession with being perfect, along with her feelings of worthlessness, consumed her. The one thing she thought was perfect in her life was the bond she shared with her best friend, Noah. Everything was going according to her life plan until she woke up one day and realized she had fallen in love with him. The one thing she couldn't control was the effect he had on her. Noah had the power to give her 100 lifetimes of happiness, which also gave him the power to completely devastate her. He was the one thing in her life that was perfect, but she couldn't allow herself to have him. Her life begins to unravel. Events take over and force her to let go of her dreams and desires. She needs to realize that a person cannot control the events in their life, only their reaction to them - but will it be too late for her to save her relationship with her best friend? Present Perfect is a story of how past events have present consequences and how perfect your present could be if you stopped fighting and just allowed it to happen.

Amanda and Noah!

Following in her sister’s footsteps was hard for Amanda. She never felt as pretty, didn’t think she was as smart and certainly didn’t feel as popular but the one thing she had in her life was Noah. They grew up together and were best friends but when they became teenagers their feelings developed into love and that is when the true angst begins as she feels he deserves so much better than she.

Noah loves Amanda with all his heart, and he wants to be with her, but she pushes him away and decides they can be friends or nothing so backed into a corner he chooses friends. All he wants is for her to see herself the way he sees her, but he is willing to accept her in his life anyway that he can.

They are by each other’s sides through all the ups and down but it is when the author throws us a curveball that you won’t see coming that you truly see the depth of their love for each other. This story will make you laugh, it will make you cry, and the characters and their journey will stay with you long after the last page.

I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook and the portrayal by the narrator was perfect. You could feel the emotion of the story deep within your heart and I didn’t want to stop listening until I knew how Noah and Amanda’s story ended.

Slow burn perfection

I read this book via audiobook. This was my first time listening to narrator, Kelli Tager, she did dual POV and was great as both Noah and Bryson. I really hope to hear more of her in the future!

This was a slow burn coming to age romance that follows Noah and Bryson thru their friendship as children up thru adulthood. I absolutely loved the slow build and gradual progression of each characters feelings and emotions towards one another. It’s filled with heartbreak, honesty and a pure love that will make your heart bleed.

Alison G. Bailey has quickly become an author that every time I see a new book release from I cant wait for it. These new audio releases made my day! I can’t wait to see more of her books transition to audio!

This story will stay with me for a long time.

Amanda (aka Tweet) and Noah have been best friends for as long as they can remember. As they grow older, they start to see each other in a different light. Noah would give anything just to be with her, but would Amanda risk losing their friendship?

While this is a story that will stay with me for a long time and I loved how it ended, I found the first part of the story too repetitive and frustrating.

I loved Noah and how he was always there for Amanda despite her always pushing him away, but I didn’t like the way he treated those he dated. My heart broke for Dalton and I wish there was more of him.

Narrator Appelusa McGlynn was perfect for the role. The voices she made fit the characters and she was able to express their emotions really well.

Present Perfect is a slow burn, friends to lovers young adult contemporary romance written and performed in first-person narrative. It’s a standalone that ends with a HEA. No cliffhanger, no cheating.
