Summary

Rescuing damsels in distress is all in a day's work for Detective Nate Stone. After saving a beautiful woman from a burning car and an assassin’s bullet, he vows to protect her. But the determined assassin always seems to be one step ahead of the game. Suspecting a leak within his Department, Nate takes Rose and runs. He soon discovers that the hardest part of the mission is resisting his desire for the woman who trusts him with her life.

Rose awakes in a hospital with no memory, only to discover that someone tried to kill her. Her only chance to survive an assassin’s game of cat and mouse is the man who saved her and who has promised to protect her. She may not know her past, but she knows her heart, and it longs for her protective hero who ignites a passion in her she can't deny.

Very corny and unrealistic

***Spoiler Alert***

The best thing about this book is the narration which I could not fault. As for the actual book unfortunately it was so corny and unrealistic I couldn't wait to be done with it.

It starts off well with Rose on the run and Nate rescuing her from a car crash. Someone is trying to kill her, she ends up in hospital with amnesia, Nate assigns himself to protect her, then it all goes downhill. Nate inappropriately and unprofessionally lusts after Rose and she apparently quickly falls for him, despite being in a life and death situation, literally being hunted down by a hitman. The first safe house is compromised by a police leaker, and after Nate & Rose opening choose to roam around town shopping & going to restaurants without a care in the world. She's moved to another safe house but the police boss makes a highly unrealistic decision which leads the killer directly to Rose and people get hurt. In the midst of all this Nate makes sexual advances towards Rose while she is apparently terrified, having nightmares and flashbacks. Even after the police boss found out about them having sex, there was no discussion about Nate crossing the line and being removed from the case. Also I know some women find it endearing, but Nate constantly calling Rose 'Babe', & 'Sweetheart' just grated on me. The ending was also rather suspect with the with the way the instigator dealt with being found out as orchestrating the whole thing. The way this character was described, I doubt he would have gone out like that, he would have done anything to bargain his way out of the situation with his political power & money.

All in all the plot of the story quickly fell apart because it was so unrealistic, as well as the weird tacky, lusty relationship. Lastly can I just mention that every character is this book were good looking with amazing sexy bodies and the one or two people who weren't were called "Apes"! This is not a book I would recommend.

Fab!

A top narration here has made a good book a great listen. The story itself has many exciting and heartfelt elements. The story had a nice flow and was well plotted out with side characters I wouldn't mind reading more of. It was predictable enough but, with the fast pace of the story combined with a talented narrator I found myself happy to just go with flow and enjoy it.
An entertaining listen.
