An intense listen.

A very intense listen and was disappointed when it had finished. Very informative and not for the faint hearted.

Well narrated but should be longer

The episodes are well narrated with clips from the news and audio footage etc which are merged seamlessly. However there are better podcasts out there telling longer and more complex examples with twists and turns over longer periods etc that are better to listen to.

Uncomfortable listening that disrespects victims and their families

With a 4.7* overall rating, someone had to give this series one star just to redress the balance - hence my posting this review. Whilst others say this series is ‘not for the faint hearted’ and I acknowledge that it comes with a warning about containing actual emergency calls, having listened to a few of these, I’m left with a very nasty taste in my mouth. In particular the episodes focusing on crimes against children seemed gratuitous and disrespectful of both the victims and their families. Do we feel it’s ok to be entertained by stories of how Jamie Bulger was repeatedly beaten, sexually assaulted and sliced in two by a train? Or that Millie Dowler was held hostage and raped before she was murdered? Whilst some might say ‘you don’t have to listen’, I’d question the ethics of the programme makers and the value of this series being out for anyone who chooses to download it. It’s important to understand psychopathy, but these bitesize programmes are far too shallow to offer any real insights into criminal motivation or the justice system and instead strike me as titillation and prurience masquerading as journalism.

Don't feel like I learned anything

I only listened to a couple of these as they seemed like superficial accounts of arbitrary crimes

Excellent gripping and harrowing.

Small, bite sized chunks, easily listened to. I learnt a lot about crimes I'd passively seen played out on TV. Some interesting questions about the role of media in helping to catch criminals and some really emotional parts. I enjoyed it (if you can say that about crime, rape and murder).

Very sad and hard to listen to but worth a read

Im having to stop listening to it as its very hard to hear the sad stories of evil vile disgusting killers who should be put in rooms full of mums instead of prison. Prison is to good for these people. If you can handle sad hard stories then it’s definitely worth listening to, the narration is very good, just to sad for me though😔
