Summary
They're not looking for love, but it finds them anyway. Can two very different men find common ground and claim a future...together?
Foster
Things I love: my kid sister, the no-hope dogs I rehabilitate, my job as an EMT, and maybe my new friend Dutch.
But Dutch isn’t gay, and physical attraction isn’t something I feel often. Are these feelings real, or am I just tired of being alone?
Dutch
This is all Hazel’s fault. Hazel the Hazard.
Hazel made me come to first-grade safety day.
Hazel blurted out—loudly—about the beautiful fireman.
Hazel invited the beautiful fireman over for a party.
I swear I’m not gay, but Foster Jennings is the most beautiful man I’ve ever met, outside and in.
Dutch is the single dad of a precocious daughter. He moved to Piedras wanting a better life for Hazel and himself. Things are shaping up: He’s landed a permanent job at Brooch Resort, and Hazel has quit having nightmares that someone is going to steal her away.
Then everything goes sideways; Dutch’s past threatens his future, and he doesn’t know where to turn.
Something is wrong; Dutch is pushing him away and won’t tell Foster why.
When Hazel goes missing, Dutch can’t hide anymore, he needs his... Foster to help him get Hazel back.

Family forever
I loved watching the relationship develop between Foster and Dutch but just as much I loved watching them interact with the young women in their lives. They are supportive and protective of them and that drives the mystery part of the plot as Hazel disappears and Dutch has to confront his past and open up about it to Foster. As a fan of the Emergency TV show, I'm always up for a story with an EMT and this one also rescues/rehabilitates dogs, so that is perfection. This may be my favorite entry in this series. Michael Dean did a great job bringing all these characters life.

Always a pleasure to be back to Piedras Island!
Loved this sweet story about sweet good-hearted Foster, and ex-bad-boy, now-loving-single-dad Dutch. The story is quite a slow burn, seeing as Foster is demi and Dutch has never even realized he was bisexual before meeting Foster. Hazel (aka Hazard) is the most cute and sharp 8-years-old there is!
This book is perhaps lower on the mystery and action than the other books in the series and focuses more on the budding friendship and relationship and then on all of them becoming family!

Beautiful Demi/bi awakening romance
The Story :
Foster is an EMT on the island and meets kitchen manager Dutch, and his daughter Hazel, at a school event. Hazel is an absolute hoot and invites Foster over for a tea party. Slowly but surely Foster and Dutch develop a friendship that they both desperately need.
With Hazel constantly wrangling invitations, these two wonderful characters soon spend every spare moment together. Without any relationship angst or upheaval they soon fall for each other, declarations are made and a beautiful romance begins, with a lovely balance of sweet and heat.
But drama does comes calling for Dutch when people from his past come to threaten the life he has built for himself and Hazel. Once the threat is over Dutch and Foster get to enjoy their lives together and their HEA.
This is an enjoyable and engaging read with a great cast of characters, including those from previous books in the series.
The narration :
Michael Dean gives a flawless performance with each characters tone and cadence maintained throughout the entire performance. Each character was clearly distinguished from the others and his enthusiasm for the story never waned. It was a very enjoyable listening experience.

Sweet, single dad, self discovery romance
I absolutely adored Hazel AKA the real Hazard.
She's the shining star of this book.
This little girl is so sneaky, sassy and sweet.
The friendship to something much more was a slow burn of the best kind because it allowed Dutch and Foster to actually get to know one another and explore together.
There's some mild angst due to Foster having difficulty letting his younger sister Becca go off to college as a result of losing their parents and also Dutch's past catching up with him but everything is dealt with for a HEA.
Michael Dean did an excellent job narrating and bringing the story to life.

Loved it!
This is one of those books that are a must hear for me. First because is part of one of my favorite series written by Elle Keaton, second because the voice actor is Michael Dean, and I am a huge fan of his narration's style, beautiful voice and acting skills, and third because Dutch and Foster's story is full of amazing characters (I loved Hazel especially) and even if there is a little angsty, the heartwarming and steamy moments and the chemistry between them balanced out any angst I could find. A very enjoyable book! Loved it!

Great Book
Real Hazard is the fourth book in the West Coast Forensics series. The book can be read as a standalone, but I found the series to be more enjoyable when read in order.
I loved this book! Dutch is such a sweetheart and his devotion to Hazel, his daughter is deep and heartwarming. Foster was the perfect partner for Dutch, and I loved how naturally their relationship developed. Elle Keaton is a talented writer who creates interesting and vibrant characters. The suspense and action was intense at the end and left an impactful conclusion. This series keeps getting better with each net book.
The audiobook was narrated by Michael Dean who did a wonderful job. Michael voiced each character perfectly and created an engaging performance. The audiobook production was well done.

I love this series!
I love the West Coast Forensics series and was really looking forward to this audiobook. Dutch is a single father who has moved to Piedras Isalnd to put his past behind him. His daughter Hazel, with her sweet and irresistible nature, has arranged for paramedic Foster to be invited to their home. Foster is lonely, but he has been taking loving care of his little sister since the death of his parents in an accident.
I really liked the dynamic of how the initial meeting developed into a friendship and more between Foster, who is demi, and Dutch, who didn't even know he was bisexual. It was wonderfully described and you could feel the sparks between them right away as you listened. Great chemistry and the emotions were great portrayed. The story is really sweet and 9 year old Hazel played a big part in that. You can't help but take her to your heart. She is very smart and clever and is brilliantly voiced by Michael Dean.
In general, he delivered a great performance. He did a fantastic job of protraiting the emotions, giving the characters appropriate voices and his way of narrating Hazel was just sweet. The audiobook was very entertaining, the relationship develops slowly and at the end it gets really exciting. A sweet and heartwarming story

Great MM series
We have it all in this book: two men, one young daughter, an independent disabled sister, opposites attract, slow burn, and all set on the island of Piedras.
Dutch and Forster are two people who shouldn't work, but they have Dutch's daughter Hazel to thank for that.
It's a really good addition to this series. Some of the old characters pop in, but not enough to stop it from being read as a standalone. Would recommend.
The narration was yet again on point, but did we expect anything less from Michael Dean? Always a 100% performance.

Another Piedras Island winner!
Foster Jennings is an EMT on Piedras Island. He has raised his sister, Becca, since she lost the use of her legs in the car crash that killed their parents. Because of his amazing looks, he gets plenty of offers but feels attracted to no one … until he meets Dutch Schumach. Dutch is an ex-biker working as a short order cook and single-handedly raising his young daughter, Hazel, who is a force of nature. As Foster and Dutch form a friendship and then more, the only looming hazard is Dutch’s biker past. I’ve enjoyed all the Piedras Island books and, although this one doesn’t have a mystery to solve, I thoroughly enjoyed this too. I loved the friends-to-lovers / bi-awakening plot. I also liked the single dads angle, although Becca can pretty much look after herself, and I loved how involved they were in the plot. Audio superstar Michael Dean is always superb and he does a great job here.

When the past catches up.
MM, Bi Awakening, Demisexual, Small Town, Contemporary, Romance. The fourth book in the series it can be read as a stand-alone but I think the series is great so well worth listening to the entire series. Told from a dual point of view, the narration is great and really brought the story to life. A great listen with drama, action, twists and turns, and angst all while falling in love. Guaranteed HEA.
