Lola isn’t so innocent after all 😇
The Sterling siblings may be a mess from their past upbringing and tragedy from losing their brother but they persevere through, Lola, the oldest makes sure of that.
This book is focused on Lola Sterling she is expected to bend at her fathers will but she decides she isn’t going to put up with his toxic behavior anymore and ventures off creating an interior design business. This is where we meet Hayden, the powerful, rich, and demanding client who wants her company to transform his hotels into something spectacular. The fire between these two is radiating heat even before they get beneath the sheets. I love finding more out about this dysfunctional family. Nicole Dykes has created incredible characters who have lots of conflict with each other and themselves.

A MUST LISTEN
Firstly, can I just say. KUDOS to Tor and Charley, they really brought out the chemistry, emotions and love from the characters AND HAYDEN WAS SO SO SEXY. I fangirled so much over this book. RESTRAINED was on Lola, the eldest and only sister and honestly this book was a slightly welcome break from the previous two books which were much more intense. Lola is constantly trying to be the super glue of the family and she finally lets herself loose when she meets Hayden - which I loved! These two had amazing chemistry and this book is everything! Probably my favourite in this series. Always expect the best from Nicole Dykes bc her work is amazing! A definite must listen!!

Don’t restrain yourself from buying this book
I loved the ebook the emotions, the drama and angst and the suspense of finding secrets and overcoming them. I didn’t think that it could be beaten however the audiobook was just that little push to put this as my favourite Nicole book. The narrators gave these amazing characters their own voices and personalities. This book and series are fantastic and well worth the credits

The next chapter in the Sterling family saga
Restrained is book 3 in the sterling series and focuses on the eldest sibling Lola. From the other books you get the sense she is the Motherly figure in many ways and the glue that holds the siblings together. The story definitely backs that up and shows off what a wonderful woman she is as a character. So strong and so often putting others before herself.
The audiobook was well cast with Tor and Charley portraying Lola and Hayden really well. I do think you see the Sterling family in a different light through Lola's POV and Charley did a wonderful job portraying a softer side here.
Lola meets her new client Hayden and their mutual attraction leads to a night of temptation and the beginnings of a relationship between them. A always with Nicole's books there are secrets a plenty and Hayden has some in his arsenal, Lola slowly starts to get to see the real Hayden behind his put together businessman façade and he has such a vulnerability about him that I loved. Lola and Hayden's relationship blossoms throughout and I love how she nurtures it and he blends into her world so easily until a secret he has been hiding threatens everything they have built.
I still found myself distracted by Asher's drama in this book, my mind still going back to him and how broken he is over Baz and Vivienne and that stole the spotlight from Lola's story a little. That said Hayden's connection with Asher I think is the start of a turning point and I fell in love with Hayden more for how he really got Asher to respect and listen to him.
The Sterlings have me hook, line and sinker, I can't wait to see how their stories all play out.

A Gripping & Emotional Ride! Awesome🎧📚🎧
Nicole Dykes does it again! She completely wowed me with another awesome novel in her “The Sterlings” series. This is the second book, I highly recommend reading or listening to “Regrets” before this one, not only is that book awesome but it gives you some insight of the Sterling family dynamics and history of events. Each book features a different family member, this book is Asher and Vivienne’s story. Asher’s brother’s Linc and Colt were featured in the first book, we got a glimpse of what it was like for them growing up, in a not so perfect family. Asher is the youngest Sterling, in addition to his two brothers he has a sister Lola who is living on the West Coast. Asher is damaged in many ways, but one thing he is certain about is his love for his nephew, Sebastian aka Baz. When Vivienne came to the Sterlings to introduce them to their Grandson/Nephew it was Asher who stepped up the most. He was there for both of them as much as he could be. When an opportunity arises he steps up to help even more, it makes them even closer than ever. But when one thing leads to another Asher backs off, his fear and guilt gets the best of him. This book is highly addictive, once you start you can not stop because you need to know what happens next. I was rooting for these characters, some of their choices really pissed me off at times. I may or may not have yelled at them a few times, lol. It is like you can see what is meant to be but they are refusing to see it. This book (and series) is cleverly plotted, the character are complex, they continue to develop and grow as they try to come in to their own. Asher and Vivianne’s story is not over yet, yeah, may or may not have yelled at the author for that too but I have faith in her, things happen the way they do for a reason and it will all come together in end. Nicole Dykes, thank you for another awesome story and emotional rollercoaster ride. I am looking forward to what comes next for the Sterlings and their plus ones.
🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Thurlow Holmes and Dash Coleman are terrific narrators and voice artists. They did an amazing job portraying the characters and bringing them to life. They gave each character their own voice and personality, captured all of their emotions and projected them into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the fantastic listen🎧

Lola's Story
Restrained
The Sterlings #3
By Nicole Dykes
Narrated by Tor Thom and Charley Ongel
This series has me hooked on the Sterlings. Each book features one of the siblings, and this one is by far my favorite. Lola is a selfless woman, always looking out for those close to her. Seeing her fractured family, she does her best to heal the paths and make everyone happy while keeping the walls strong around her own heart. Now a job has come through with several hotels wanting her and Penelope to head the team. But their schedule doesn't allow them both, and Lola finds herself spending a lot of time with Hayden., And our story really begins. I love these characters. Hayden is the broody, incredibly charismatic man who has definite ideas. And while we have Lola and Hayden at the forefront, we do get to spend a lot of time with Asher, Penelope, Viv and Baz who is always stealing the show. It's family drama based on pure love and an amazing listen.
The team of Tor Thom and Charley Ongel continue to bring this family to life. Their depiction of the characters is emotionally charged and makes you invest your heart. You get all of the feelings, as your heart is torn apart and as it soars. It's a listen you surely do not want to miss.

Gets even better
Ahhhh. This family is making me crazy, I swear!
I love the Sterlings, and Lola was the one I felt I knew the least about. That’s changed now. She’s just a genuine hearted person, trying to do the right thing for her whole family. I get it. She feels the pressure from everywhere, trying to keep everyone happy and make them make the right decisions. A true control freak.
But whew, she let her hair down, let her man in, and it was so beautiful to watch. And he could not be better for her if he tried. Just effortlessly, he slid in, supporting her and keeping her grounded.
This really was an excellent angst break, but I know there’s more to come & I can’t wait!

4.5 Stars
I had no idea what to expect going into this. I go into this authors books as blind as possible. And while this isn't as angsty as Regrets or Restrictions, this did have a bombshell I did NOT see coming. I've really enjoyed listening to The Sterling's on audio because I can never get enough Tor Thom in my ear. Lola and Hayden are quite a pair. I don't want to say much because it might spoil it but needless to say, Lola sure meets her match. I'm totally unaware of where else this series could go, but I'm definitely here for it. I volunteered to listen and review a complimentary copy of this. All opinions are my own.
