Slow to get into but well worth the digestion of information.
I have given the story 4 and not my normal 5 for Isabel’s books. The book starts slowly and I found the description of each character tedious and I was impatient to get into the plot.. Once the plot begins I was hooked and as you played the ‘game’ the descriptions of the characters became important. Thoroughly enjoyed and the narrative was excellent.
If this is your first Isabel Allende’s novel this is outside her normal genre. I can highly recommend her stories, based in South America countries that are dealing with Political dysfunction and how it impacts on the lives of their citizens.

Riveting
Loved this book and it’s been a while since anything held my attention fully on Audible. Isabel Allende is always a brilliantly evocative author and it’s interesting to see her come away from her usual genre into thriller territory. Great storyline , great narration - winning formula!

A page-turning Californian murder mystery
A bizarre murder in San Francisco is used for a true-crime investigation by a disparate group of young gamers, working as a team across the internet. More murders occur in the city and the team begins to wonder whether there may be some sort of link. So far, only mildly interesting (for me anyway) but Allende has real skill in developing characters that rang true, at least for that crazy city by the bay. This all enabled me to suspend disbelief of some aspects of the situation and I quickly found it compelling. It was well narrated and made an otherwise dull weekend very enjoyable.

Absolutely TEDIOUS!
This book is full of endless, repetitive descriptions or characters and random instances from their lives that have NO bearing on the story whatsoever and take up the majority of the book. The same descriptions of x character just a few chapters apart make it utterly tedious.
The only remotely interesting section comes in the last few chapters.
As for the narrator, he is somewhat robotic. His ‘African’ accent for one of the characters sounds Jamaican, as does that of a Scottish teacher. Bloody terrible!
