Authentic, inspiring, insightful
Unlike many self-help books, Rise and Shine is neither preachy nor impractical. It is an honest and intelligent account of what causes burn-out, how to spot the warning signs, and what to do about it. While it’s written primarily for an executive audience, it is clearly applicable more widely. In fact, I’d thoroughly recommend to anyone who is tired of feeling tired.

Guidance on the Go for Busy Professionals
I loved this book when I read it. As someone who grew up with a work hard, play hard mentality, I know I can be at risk of it all becoming too much. The challenge I have now is to remember and follow Leanne's excellent advice. The audiobook means that I can now carry that advice with me and remind myself as I walk, run, travel etc. Leanne has a lovely voice to listen to which helps. I recommend her podcast too.

Inspired to Rise and Shine
I started listening to this book on my way to a long and much needed holiday. As I listened to the description of burn out, I realised I ticked most of the boxes and had been yo-yo-ing back and forth to the precipice of burnout over many years, while running two companies. I realised I was currently in the worst state I’d been in for a long time. This book gave me the inspiration to start making immediate changes. My mornings on holiday became ‘mindful mornings’, restarting my mindfulness practice and listening to this book. I’ve now downloaded some of the recommended books and the podcast to carry on. I’ve made a list of small changes I need to make immediately on my return to work. There was much I already knew but had stopped doing e.g. a cupboard full of the supplements recommended here - time to start taking those again! It was good to have reassurance that my own research and ‘survival tactics’ were in line with the author’s but also to receive the inspiration and impetus to implement them again and recognise how I was preventing myself from being my best self.
I was worried that I wouldn’t enjoy the book initially. I found the delivery slightly clinical and lacking in warmth for the first few chapters but this seemed to change by around chapter four. Perhaps because there were so many lists in the first few chapters! So if you’re feeling this - persevere!
As a behavioural scientist I enjoyed the well researched and cited scientific aspect to the book, as opposed to the hokum mumbo jumbo often found in books on self development,
This is definitely a book I will return to.

Realistic and Concise way back from burnout
Loved this book. Narrator is easy to listen to and believes in the content of the book.
This book says it is aimed at the corporate world but realistically could be used by anyone from entrepreneurs to public service workers.
The case studies really resonated with me and made me feel like recovery was achievable.
I have used the research cited in this book to help support me when negotiating a longer return to work strategy as the effects of burn out are far wider than the usual templates HR adhere to.
The six signals that are suggested in the book were a great way for me to concentrate on what’s important and what to concentrate on when putting plans in place for recovery. Started with sleep and went from there. There are certain things in the book that didn’t work for me - such as Kefir. When I had some money spare I did various gut tests and DNA testing as suggested and kefir along with other fermented foods were not suitable for my microbiome. As suggested in the book personalised nutrition was the way forward. Signals like heart fullness I had never thought of as having an effect, but it just goes to show how holistic and connected physical, emotional, spiritual and mental health is

Great for burn out or feeling overwhelm!
I've read lots of personal development books, and as a fellow high-functioning personality type, the narrator gives practical and real advice for turning your life around. Really recommend this book.
