Summary
“I suggest you focus your considerable talents and effort on finding another career path.”
From the moment those words left Agent Grant’s lips, I realized my dream of being a profiler for the FBI was dead. All because I happened to come from a small town in the Midwest.
Seriously, that’s the only reason he would give me.
So I did what any sane woman with a heart full of rage and an Ivy League education would do: pack up what was left of my failed life and move back....
I don’t know what triggered the flags on my file, but you can sure as hell bet I will find out—even if it kills me.

Brilliant first in series
Jolene returns to her home town after the FBI inform her that she will never be an agent. She returns to her home town to find out why. There's alot of strange things about the town and the people that although she grew up there. she didn't really notice.
The majorty of the men her age seem to be incredably hot, even her old school bully. This story held my interest from start to finish. I look forward to the rest of this series.
The narration is excellent.

Fun, Fascinating & Steamy~Terrific Story & Listen🎧
This is a fantastic start to a new series written by Cassandra Featherstone, the “Misfit Protection” series. The story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it the entire time. Jolene Whitley always wanted to work in the behavioral unit in the FBI, despite her schooling and worldly experience, they did not want her, all because of circumstances of her childhood, though they would not explain what those were. So, it was time to return to her childhood home back in Whistler’s Hollow to see find out what those circumstances may be. Her parents are no longer alive, but she still has her childhood home and all their belongings. This book lays down the foundation for the series, it is a cleverly plotted, fast-paced story with plenty of drama, humor, some mystery, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Cassandra Featherstone, thank you for the fabulous story and wild ride, I am looking forward to see where all this leads, with the men, the animals and the circumstances why Jolene did not get her dream job at the FBI.
🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Maggie Indara is a talented narrator and versatile voice artist. She performs the voices for all the characters, gives each their own distinct sound, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. Her portrayal of the characters is spot on, and she has a complete understanding of each of their personas and is believable in every role. She plays Jolene’s role with perfection, grasps all sides of her personality, brings out all her sass and strengths and handles her witty dialogue naturally. Maggie Indara sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all the characters’ emotions and projects them in to her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the fabulous listen.

Why Choose Paranormal Romance
Road to the Hollow by Cassandra Featherstone is a why choose paranormal romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Maggie Indara. This is the first book in the Misfit Protection Program.
This is the third book of Cassandra's that I have read, and it won't be my last. This prequel is a great set up to the series. I can't wait for the next book in the series Return To The Hollow to be released on audio so I can get more of Jolene's story.
Maggie did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of her work in the future.

Loved the narration from Maggie Indara
Jolene has to return home after her dream of working for the FBI is now no longer. She returns to the childhood home that has been empty since her parents' death. She cannot understand why she can't remember parts of her past and why she didn't pass the background check for the FBI.
This is a well plotted, fast-paced story with plenty of drama, humour, some mystery, emotions and steamy romance.

enjoyable but disappointed
I was thoroughly enjoying everything about this audiobook till it came to an abrupt end, moving onto the next book. It just didn't feel finished and almost as though word count completed so just end it there. It really did make it a disappointment.
