Brilliant story of intrigue
Took us a couple of chapters to get in to this book and to get on with the narrator - but by the end we thought both were brilliant

Hopefully the First of Many!
I greedily consumed this novel in one sitting!
Excellent plot, a female protagonist who is by no means ‘girly’ - I’m sure male readers / listeners would enjoy this as much as I did - some of the analogies made me laugh out loud (no mean feat) - my son kept asking what I was laughing at as I sat headphone clad with my crochet 😄
Last but never least, as usual, exceptional narration by Imogen Church. I have been known to buy a book simply because Ms Church is the narrator; in my opinion she is one of the best narrators on Audible.
Hope the sequel will be finished soon!!!

Wow! What a stunning story!
This was an amazing listen! My first from this author, but I’m about to look for more! Hopefully there already is a sequel, but if not then please . We’re introduced to a new heroine, a tough , but vulnerable woman, who occasionally makes a mistake and doesn’t always get everything right. But boy does she win out in the end! Like a female Jack Reacher, she ploughs through the bad guys and gets to the bottom of the complex situation. We’re left with a cliff hanger which leaves plenty of hooks for further adventures. The characters are so well drawn that I felt all the emotions of them as we went along! Our heroines history as an army medic plays an important part in her life and adds to the complexity of her character. You can’t help but love her , her sassy mouth and her black humour. Well worth a credit for hours of pure enjoyment .

Really Good
A refreshing change to have a female lead in what might be considered a "macho" role. Kind of like a Jack Reacher type character, but English and a woman !. Very well written story, and just made for my favourite narrator. I always love Imogen Church, and she really excelled herself with this one.
Highly recommended.

Excellent, I loved it!
This book is an unexpected pleasure, as I envisage a great series is forthcoming. The characters are well drawn, especially the protagonist, Sam Wylde, who is very engaging and likeable. My favourite genre is crime fiction, but with an emphasis on procedural rather than gratuitous gore. There is so much of the latter around unfortunately. Here we find an appropriate amount of nasty violence, lots of gripping procedure and a good smattering of personal life. The twists are subtle, but no less powerful for that. The narration is also excellent.

An unexpected gem
Was just mooching through the selection of thrillers and liked the sound of this book so thought while it was on offer I’ll give it a try.
And nice simple story with many twists and turns excellent characters and a positive and which she really wants in a book.
I especially liked the different timeframes all mixed together which actually were very easy to follow and like some authors.
I will be looking out for this author again I recommend this book it’s a good listen a bit bloodthirsty in places but Hayhoe.

been there, done that
as the book progressed it became clear to me that thee author has been there and done that or knows somebody intimately that has since much of the detail you would not get from research. It’s a pacey book though mostly predictable or else I’ve read too many books in my lifetime. The performance is top notch as you’d expect from this narrator. If you want action then this book is ideal but if you want all the loose ends tied up in a neat paper bag or similar then this book wiill leave as many questions as it answers. it moves between back story and present but is easy to follorw so don’t let that put you off.
