About this listen

Cole is the most powerful witch to ever be born. Except, he’s a man, and there has never been a male witch.

Now, Cole is stuck in the Devil’s Academy full of evil women who want to destroy him. To survive, he’ll have to perform a dark ritual that enslaves the beautiful witches to him.

They’ll hate serving a man, of course, but that just makes the conquest over their bodies, minds, and souls that much sweeter.

Disclaimer: This novel contains horrific violence, a harem, and deviant mind control sexual escapades.

Amazing

Yet another brilliant book. Can’t wait for the next 2 books. Definitely one of my favourites from Logan.

a bit weird how the time goes, or how sort the lesons are. but in general is a pretty nice listening. the first sex scene is quite nice compared with other similar books.

good enough for a story,

story is to simplistic and somehow repeated, yet everything is enjoyable...
great performance by voice actors.

An adequate example of the genre

This was better than I thought and probably a good example of the genre with narration that was on-point throughout.

The straightforward story progressed well enough, and there was always a decent sense of mystery and a bigger picture that would finally be revealed, if not in this book but in future episodes. However, the text never strays too far from its overtly graphic premise, which is serviced as necessary, and usually without too much imagination.

There are pluses, notably using male and female voice actors which gives a nod to decent production values. But equally I am not moved to read more of this series, or any other books in this genre. This sort of material has its niche and no doubt finds a willing audience less concerned about the likely repetition that surely follows as the archetypal male protagonist proceeds to conquer fertile female lands.

I did hope there might be something more to amuse this reader beyond the obvious boy-meets-girl-to-bed-and-other-activities. An overlooked thread within the singular story arc maybe?

Yes, a little bit more, but not a lot.

don't waste your money or time on this

literally garbage.
the main character is a cocky asshole who doesn't have any redeemable qualities, no character growth and is literally the worst. Its written like a stereotypical neckbeard is trying to get his own back on all the girls he liked in class who didn't understand how much of a nice guy he was. its one fedora, katana and "m'lady" away from being neckbeard high-school fanfic. the main character doesn't face any real struggle to learn new powers, he just turns up and is naturally good at anything he attempts, even reading 1000 page long books and retaining all the knowledge, of which there are at least 5 books. and it is majorly sexist, the man knows best, is the best, and if only those stupid women would listen to him, they would be better and happier. the general knowledge of the occult the author has is laughable. skulls and pentagrams, and everything is black or red. the stupidly long descriptions of the clothes makes me think the author should have gone into fashion. the exotic scenes are laughable and ham-fisted. the narrator and voice of Cole was an extremely poor choice. he is very intense with a deep voice making Cole seems in his mid 30s to 40s when he is meant to be 18-20, that adds a whole new level of pervertedness to it that can't fall on the head of the author.
just... don't.

Incel fantasy gone wrong.

All the women are useless, can't even get dressed properly without the mans help. Meanwhile, everything falls into the mans lap, (finds magical OHK dagger, saves woman, can do any spell easily) And when the man finds some way to become "Master" over the group of, frankly, underdeveloped (beyond skin and hair colour, I know zero about all of these women), poorly (and too rapidly) introduced women, it felt unearned and I didn't even care either way.

If a constantly smirking, charmless, bickering, unquestioning, overprotective, henpecked MC didn't make this tale unlikeable enough, then the author needing to having the dude peek down a women's top during a human sacrifice (that was apparently, just ok?) was pretty much a deal-breaker.

Maybe I'm just old, but this was just too edgy for me.

I finally quit when we got to the part where they entered the town and the MC could just... escape, and instead, he just goes along with everything for no reason. Even for Logan Jacobs harem (Skulduggery is waaaay better), this plot makes zero sense and there's way too much of it, not enough character development, and by 1/2 through the book, zero erotic content, Not that I would have enjoyed it if it had happened, the MC's just that much of a smirking child.

As a listener, I feel like I have to apologise to the narrators for their talent wasted on this dreck.

I smirked, you smirked, he/ she/ it smirked

Forget that the narrator puts way too much effort into every sentence. “Cole WALKED up to the DOOR”.
Forget that the main character has zero positive attributes.
And forget that the author clearly has some deep-seated issues with women.
Forget all that, because there is a bigger issue.

About 50% of this book is the word “smirk”.
I honestly don’t know if there was a plot hidden in there somewhere. It seemed like the book was about some guy at some school with a stupid grin on his face 24/7.
The only other facial expression in the whole story seems to be the women scowling at the main character, and you’d best believe that he is smirking right back at them.
Seriously, pick up a thesaurus some time.
