About this listen

The first time I met Winter Marks, I almost took her out with my Jeep.

To be fair, she came out of nowhere.

I flirted with her, and she flipped me off and disappeared into the woods on her bike.

But she left me a souvenir: a single hockey skate.

Seemed to me that divine intervention shouldn’t be ignored.

She was my icy Cinderella, and I would be her Prince Not-So-Charming.

Winter was more than just a sassy, badass hockey-playing hottie.

She’s stuck in a prison of a life. And I’m the perfect escape.

Neither of us expected to fall.

Or for the truth to shatter us.

Shattered Truths is a 107,000-word stand-alone, spicy new adult romance.

Shattered Truths
By: H. Hunting
Audiobook 🎧
Narrated by: Zachary Webber, Andi Arndt
Length: 10 hrs and 52 mins

Winter meets BJ when he nearly knocks her off of her bike.🙈 She's a hockey player, and he's a pairs figure skater.⛸️ They have immediate chemistry and start hanging out.

Her home life is really difficult. Her Dad is spiteful to her mum but especially to her!😔 He doesn't want her to have bigger dreams, such as hockey and college. He puts her down and tries to belittle her. She tries to protect her mum from his temper, as well as herself.

Thankfully, BJ's parents and friends, who were all NHL stars, talk her into joining their women's team, and things start to turn a corner for her.🙏🏼

I enjoyed this book. The families and friends group are really kind. I'm intrigued by 'the vampire' Loughlin.🤣
I enjoyed the narrators, they brought it to life so well.⭐️

Love, Love, Love

I am obsessed with H. Huntings hockey books. They literally have everything, dirty talking Mmc's, all the banter, all the swoon, hockey, and of course, we get to see snippets of my OG hockey favourite Alex Waters.

BJ and Winter are perfect 🥰 I loved every second of this book. Winter has an absolutely awful home life, but she doesn't let it deter her from doing what she loves, which is hockey.

The spice in this book is 🤌 chef kiss, and I loved all the little names they gave the days when they hooked up!!

The last quarter of the book is intense....... so be prepared.

the narrators did a good job at bringing the characters to life, and I can't wait for more books in this series.

Great

Winter and BJ don’t meet in the best of circumstances when he almost hits her with his car and she’s rather sassy towards in and I think BJ falls in love with her at that point. It took a lot of ups and downs and a bit of heartache but they eventually get their HEA .

A nice listen

If you like nice, with grown up, well adjusted, main characters then this is probably for you. BJ (yes seriously! - and they are so “adult” no one seems to think it’s an issue to be called BJ) and Winter both have issues and things wrong with their lives, but underneath all that they are both well adjusted. BJ is the perfect bf (which immediately irritates me - I like my book bfs to be at least a little bit toxic!), and Winter seems to be the only gown up in her family dynamic. They meet, get together, fall in love, whilst at the same time other dramas go on with their lives.

So here we have two fairly well adjusted young adults who are excellent communicators, who talk everything through like adults (literally not a misunderstanding in sight), have endless discussions around consent (can I hug you?, can I kiss you?, can I touch you? Ad nauseam). I guess it’s a sign of the times but it became irritating. There’s a large friendship group (no doubt more books to come) and it’s based around hockey and ice skating.

It’s a decent enough story although for me there isn’t nearly enough angst or drama. The abusive father was far too easily put back in his box, the abused mother far too easily found enlightenment and a pathway out of said abuse. Winter far too easily found the answer to all her dreams and financial worries. Meanwhile BJ sailed though most of the book with a few hints at what might be to come (which his friends saw but not one of them warned him) and then at the end he has a life changing experience, and after a couple of grumpy days and a good talking too by the very adult Winter he sees the light and is cured of his depression. For me it was all a bit too nice and neat.

The narrators however were excellent. If I’d been reading this instead of listening to the wonder ZW and AA I would probably have given up, but I love their narration so much I stuck with it.

If you like nice, well adjusted main characters with not a toxic trait in sight, humorous dialogue, hot sex, and a HEA the you will no doubt enjoy. If like me you like a bit of darkness and toxicity in your romance then you might want to give this a swerve!
