Summary
The shifter council warned Laylea to be good.
Translation: Sit down, shut up, and don't cause trouble.
Laylea is a dog. Sure, she can shift to human, but her soul is always a dog. Now the council wants to make her a full-time human just because she broke their stupid rules? She's already drowning in all the secrets she’s keeping for her friends. She’ll be damned if she’s keeping any for the idiots in charge.
They say witches don’t exist.
But 200 years ago, the council hired a witch to imprison a deadly phoenix in the shifter school after it burned through half of Chicago. Now the spell is crumbling, and it’s going to take a whole coven to protect the city this time around.
If Laylea wants to save her school, her city, and everyone she loves, she's going to have to break their rules, scatter their secrets, and risk losing her ability to shift forever.
The council had better buckle up, because Laylea is about to cause a lot of trouble.

First we had Hogwarts
First we had Hogwarts and Harry Potter, now we have Shifter school and Laylea and I am loving it! The author certainly let's her imagination go wild (with both the different types of characters and the situations they face) and the reader is quickly swept up with the narrative. There is a whole school of great characters in both human and animal form, the introduction of new characters soon had me invested in what happened to them. I loved it the way they all came together to save the city and out smart the werewolves. Yeah!! Go team Wyrdos! I can't wait for the next book and I can easily see the series being picked up to make a tv show, as it has everything friendships, life and death situations, puzzles to solve, magic and most of all a bad guy to hate. It's a long story and the short review I am writing won't do it justice because so much is packed into it that I can't write about it all or how it made me feel. This is book three and the characters are well established so I would recommend you read or listen to the previous books to get the full enjoyment out of it. I can't wait for the next book and for the first time ever another year at school.
Laylea a dog shifter is surprised she is allowed to return back to school, after breaking the rules and shifting in front of humans. Her problems aren't over though. Twelve years ago a fire broke out in the school and nearly destroyed Chicago. A witch cast a spell sealing off the old damaged part of the school but the magic is failing and the werewolf pack are on the hunt for the item that will trigger another catastrophic event. Can Laylea and her friends find it first and save the school? Especially as nobody believes in magic to begin with. What they find in the old part of the school has them questioning what they really know about the first fire? Will history repeat? And another fire wipe out the school again?
I like the fact that the narrator is the author. She is a very talented lady and it shows in her writing and acting.
