About this listen
Every story is true; some of them actually happened. Song of the Beloved is a provocative retelling of the Jesus story from the perspective of Mary Magdalene.
After 14 years of suffering with the debilitating effects of trauma, Mary is healed by Jesus. She then becomes his most enthusiastic and devoted disciple, later becoming his companion, co-minister, beloved, and wife. Designated the Magdalene, Mary is appointed to carry on Jesus’ ministry after his death.
A great work of fiction, inspired by scripture, historical documents, and ancient sacred texts, Song of the Beloved provides nourishment and inspiration for those in search of a relevant Christianity - with Jesus and Mary as two who lived the fullness of the human experience while teaching us how to love.

Beautiful
I feel right in the midst of Jesus and Mary Magdalene as they live out God's unconditional love and share it with whoever crosses their path

A beautifully written and narrated story of how Mary of Bethany becomes The Magdeline.
I loved this book. It confirmed all that I feel about the great and unifying One-Love peace of Christ. A divine love story beautifully dramatised and a compelling listen. In this book Magdeline is a title given to Mary of Bethany by Jesus when he has taught her The Way Of Love and empowered her to teach others in his name.
I was challenged by the characters of both Simon (Peter) and Judas as portrayed in this story but this did not detract from the overall message of Love in action through contemplation. This book has given me much to ponder and I am certain that I will listen to it again and again.

Fascinating depiction of the Magdalene's journey
The narration was beautifully crafted. I felt been transported back into the times of Magdalene and witness all the occurings from the outside. There were moments when I felt HER pain, HER confusion and HER dispair which is still so relatable to us women of the 21st century. Thank you for this beautiful creation Lauri.
