Summary

Hannah Hudson has had a rough start to the year. Returning home to London from her magical holiday in Norway, still on a high after meeting the wonderful Kristine, her newfound happiness is dealt a crushing blow when she discovers that her ex has been stealing from her and she is going to lose her business. A letter from an American lawyer throws her an unexpected lifeline, informing her that she’s inherited a house and a restaurant in Presley, Louisiana, from her biological mother who gave her up for adoption at birth.

Meanwhile back in Covington, nothing ever changes in Kristine Miller’s life. She’s grown tired of her job at the local bank, and she’s reluctant to go back to dating, unable to get Hannah, who has gone silent on her, out of her mind.

When Hannah suddenly shows up in Kristine’s life again there is no denying that destiny has a plan for them, but Hannah’s life is in London and Kristine’s is deeply attached to the beautiful South. As Hannah searches for the story behind her Southern roots, can they overcome the challenge of distance to give themselves another shot at love? Second chances are rare, and you can’t question fate when it keeps drawing you back together....

Love Love Love

I love this series. It is great to listen to the characters come to life. The narrator has done an excellent job.

Wonderful story and characters, great narration

Hannah and Kristine are definitely one of my favorite couples. I loved them in Norway (Northern Lights), I love them in Louisiana. I took my time listening to the end of the book as I was not ready to say goodbye.

There’s a lot more happening in this second book than in the first one, which was basically two people falling in love in an extraordinary place (which goes to prove that stories don’t have to be very elaborate to be wonderful). Having come back to London to find her world upside down, Hannah finds out her birth mother has left her property in Louisiana, which also happens to be where Kristine lives. The falling in love continues in very sweet ways, and both women come to realize they can expect much more from life than what they’ve had so far. I loved how one grew into a family (or the idea of a family) she’d never thought she had while the other found her way away from hers, or at least separate from hers, putting her own story above others’ expectations.

I also loved the narrator’s accents, they were perfect.

Wonderful Journey to the Roots

What a journey! A journey into the past, into the unexpected, the new and to Kristine!
Hannah has to face many tough tests of life.
The brazenest thing is the story with her ex.
Unbelievable and unjust!
Of course, this is unimportant compared to the events that follow, but also opens the door.
Hannah is untied in London now apart from the debts of losing her restaurant.
Unbound and free to start the journey into the past.
It is also the journey into the future. A future that may also include Kristine. I don't want to spoil! You have to listen.
I can recommend this audiobook to anyone who likes a really beautiful story about love, family and the beautiful south of the USA. The descriptions of the landscapes and the cities is a big bonus and really well written. Addison Barnes did again a wonderful job! I love her British accent for Hannah but also the southern drawl.

Great book, not so keen on the narration!

I enjoy Lise's stories but this narration is terrible. Hannah is from London, brought up in foster care not brought up in the Royal family! Most horrendous English accent! It made it hard to relate to the characters! I couldn't listen to it! Read it, don't listen!
