Summary

A MASTERFUL THRILLER ABOUT FORGETTING, REMEMBERING, AND THE DANGERS OF BOTH... FROM THE CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED AUTHOR OF THE SUSPECT, THE SECRETS SHE KEEPS AND LYING BESIDE YOU
'A razor-sharp and emotionally charged thriller that explores both the darkness of men's hearts and the resiliency of human spirit' LISA GARDNER

'Tension and tenderness - Michael Robotham is that rare thing, a writer who does both brilliantly. An utterly thrilling emotional ride' WILLIAM SHAW

The storm is coming...

The most painful of Evie Cormac's memories have been locked away, ever since she was held prisoner as a child - a child whose rescue captured hearts and headlines.

Forensic psychologist Cyrus Haven's mission is to guide her to something near normality. But today, on a Lincolnshire beach, seventeen bodies wash up in front of them. There is only one survivor, with two women still missing. And Evie's nightmares come roaring back...

Whatever happened all those years ago lies at the core of this new tragedy. Because these deaths are no accident. The same dark forces are reaching out, dragging her back into the storm.

Evie must now call upon Cyrus's unique skills, and her own, in their search for the missing pieces of this complex and haunting puzzle. But will that be enough to save them? And who will pay for the past?

Love love love

Absolutely brilliant!
Tied up lots of loose ends which was so satisfying but I feel sad, as I’m not sure if there would be another book there.
I love the narrator so much, I don’t know how he manages to do so many voices and not get mixed up, he’s fantastic.
This series has been so different to anything I’ve listened to so thank you Mr.Robothan!

Loved this book.

The problem is I finish the book too quickly and know that I have to wait at least a year for the next one. I really enjoy this series, I like the characters and the chemistry between them. I hope one day they will get together, because they clearly love each other. Looking forward to the next chapter in the series.

Waited so long

Waited for this to be released. Lovely to hear it. Not as fast paced as the others but still loved it

An up to date subject matter

I have been following the storyline of Cyrus and Evie from the beginning and have listened to how their relationship has grown. In this book we see Evie confront her past and the pain she goes through as she comes to term with the truth. The story of people trafficking is painful to listen to but something we need to hear especially in light of the horror stories we hear today. I have read every one of Michael Robotham books and cannot wait for the next one to be published!

Thinner somehow.

I didn't get into the characters as I have in the past. It was "thin" somehow. The performance was great, just not sure that the plot and characters were as strong as usual. Didn't feel compelled to know what was coming next, as I have in the past. I ended up feeling disappointed.

Had to return it - slow story, odd narration

I've been really looking forward to this latest in the Cyrus Haven series, and Michael Robotham has never disappointed to date. But i just couldn't get on with it. Slow story line and feels repetitious of previous books. I got about 3 hours in and just lost interest. But the final straw was the narration. For some reason various female character voices have been spliced into the narration in a jarring way. I have no idea why, when other female voices are voiced by the main narrator Joe Jameson. I found that mystery more interesting than the story line, which overall seemed forced and stilted.
