About this listen

Moving into a rundown Victorian house with a vampire living in the basement isn’t as bad as I thought, but things go from weird to weirder when a badly injured gnome collapses in my back yard.

The surprising part? It’s my friend Nin’s long-lost grandfather.

Since he’s unconscious, we can’t figure out who’s chasing him or where he’s been all these years, but if we can’t help him, he’ll die.

To make matters worse, there’s a new dragon in town. A female dragon. Everyone knows females are more dangerous than the males, and this one takes an instant dislike to me. It seems that she wants to date my mate, Zav, and has his mother’s approval.

If I can’t avoid her wrath and find a way to cure the gnome, Nin’s going to lose her grandfather, and I’m going to end up deader than the vampire in the basement.

Very entertaining

Lots of laughs out loud listening to this story. This is a really terrific series, with a great mix of action and snark.

The narration is spot on with the tone and characterisation of the individuals, with just one exception. One character, new to the series, was given (I thought) a really awful Irish accent. The character turned out to be Australian. The accent was just as awful knowing that. His was a minor role, however and didn’t spoil the book.

Great book

I was excited when I saw another book had been released, and I really enjoyed this addition to the series. Only slight negative is the narrator was dreadful at the Australian doctor’s voice, but he has such a minor part it didn’t bother me too much. Looking forward to more books!

Brilliant story ...BUT!!!

This is a fantastic story as I have come to expect from Lindsay Buroker. However, this performance should never have been published until the narrator had a firm grasp of an Australian accent!! It's a hideous mix of Australian, south African, Irish and Scottish!! I found it very distracting and unpleasant to listen to that character and was thankful he didnt play a larger part!! The rest of her performance was thoroughly enjoyable as always. But honestly, I would suggest that those parts be re recorded .

Love this series

The books are easy to listen too and very enjoyable. I debated a 3 or 4 on the performance of this book however, the narrators attempt at the various accents left something to be desired to the point of grating on my ears!

that Australian accent?!

what the hell was Vivian thinking? that accent was painful lol thankfully the character doesn't get too much dialogue. the rest of the book is excellent.

Great end to a Great series

The final book (well, there are two more about Val's sword, chopper) is an excellent end to this series. The voice performance is really good, except for the Australian accent which sounded more like an Irish one, it didn't detract from the story though.

The story is excellently written and flows well from start to finish, with just the right mix of action and humour. I recommend this book and the entire Death before Dragons series.

Not an Australian accent !

an annoying bad accent - mixture of Irish, cockney and good knows what else.
