Summary

Bruised from the breakdown of her marriage, Esther Lomax needs to get away, and Malaysia seems the perfect place. But a day's boat trip takes a desperate turn when Esther and six other holidaymakers are taken to a desert island and their guide doesn’t return. As the days pass, tensions erupt, secrets emerge, and time increasingly runs out, Esther must ask herself: Will she leave the island alive?

Gripping and page turning

Believable characters and at times edge of the seat plot
But how come she had a phone when she returned to Brighton?

Reading a different book?

Sorry don’t get the 5* reviews at all. It was so slow! Thought I was getting some sort of thriller along the lines of and then there were none. I read the epilogue and had guessed some of the outcome. And I detest stories which end with that little hook you get that perhaps, all is not over. Nope not for me, so little action or pace. It’s going back. Can’t win ‘em all!

Fun to listen to on holiday

Fun story, if a little farfetched in parts. I really liked the Cathy storyline and would have liked more of those chapters.

Thoroughly enjoyable

From start to finish I was gripped and would recommend it to everyone. A lot of books start promising but then the ending is a bit wishy washy but this book had me gripped and wanting more right to the finish.

Willssssssoonnnnnn

That's my Tom Hanks from Castaway impression.

This was a great listen. I'll not give away too much or I'll ruin it for you. A group of folk take a day trip out to a secluded island as part of their holidays in Malaysia. Something happens to their captain and they are left stranded. Was it a mistake, was it deliberate, who knows?

I found this a really atmospheric audiobook and could easily picture myself on the island with them, you'll enjoy it.

A great book. Riveting and very well narrated. I couldn't put it down. Highly recommend.

Holey plot but still enjoyable!

This book really surprised me! It started off as some sort of "dessert island" type story but then develops into something else entirely. I really enjoyed this story despite the obvious holes in the plot. Will be looking for more from Emily Barr.

Silly

I’m normally a great fan of Emily Barr but this book was a disappointment. Parts were really good and I enjoyed the character twists. Unfortunately the overall story was far fetched and silly which is a real shame.

if I had to hear the name Daisy again!

This story had so much to offer and at times it carried me along but it was quite annoying that the main character was so weak and gullible. The decisions she made were strange. I think had the book been edited to get rid of a lot of the procrastination it would have flowed better and how many times can we hear the name Daisy! That being said I do think it would make a decent movie.
