Summary

In TAXTOPIA a rogue accountant breaks ranks to share his journey from clueless naïf to skilled tax consultant -and in doing so blows the lid on the murky world of making the tax burdens of the ultra-wealthy disappear.

In the topsy-turvy world of tax avoidance, you can get richer by buying a yacht, the world's biggest exporter of coffee is Switzerland, and the Duke of Westminster pays less tax than you do.

Written with sharp wit and over-brimming with inside secrets, the anonymous author shows us that not only does the global tax system encourage dubious practice which favours the rich, but that it was specifically founded with that in mind.

If you suspect that tax is a rigged game, a con, designed to fleece the little guy, you are about to find out just how shockingly true that really is.

Welcome to TAXTOPIA.

Five stars

I gave this book five stars. Dont let the title put you off!! It’s very informative and at times laugh out loud. I felt the author had a great sense of humour and the narrator was excellent for a change.

Brilliant!

Genuinely funny book with plenty of hilarious moments. The narrator was fantastic. Even if you don’t like or care about tax, this book is worth a listen.

A must read

Perhaps as I get older i am more aware of the corruption around the world and this book does not disappoint with even more scams and tax evasion uncovered, very well written

Great book, read well! Apparently this review is too short so here are some extra words.

Fascinating with superb narration

This does for tax law what Secret Barrister did for general law. Despite being a relatively dry topic the book is engaging and never boring, and the narrator is absolutely superb. Highly recommended

An eye opener

It’s a great listen to understand about taxes and it’s complexities in a simple way. It endorses the unfairness of tax system.
In the beginning it says “imagine if you wouldn’t pay any tax” which led me to believe that there are ways to reduce the tax burden for common people like myself, but the book mostly describes the ways super rich people avoid taxes. So if you read it with a thought that there’s some advice for you how to reduce your tax burden, you will be disappointed. The fairer solutions it gives at the end is beyond our power to implement. But overall it’s an excellent book with good sense of humor and nicely narrated.

Fantastic book, superbly written and exceptionally well narrated. Can’t recommend it enough, whether you’re interested in tax or not.
