Summary

For a town that’s as cute as a button, there sure is a lot of murder.

Louisa Henry’s dream bookshop is up and running. On a trip to deliver a book to one of her customers, Lou stumbles upon the man’s dead body. The police are sure it’s a suicide, but Lou has questions. Clues at the scene and details about the man’s life just don’t seem to add up. The fact that the dead man was the town bully is only one of many things that gives Lou pause. Are the police jumping to the conclusion of suicide so they don’t have to arrest the person who did everyone a favor?

Lou’s also busy helping her best friend, Willow, with preparations for the high school’s annual Spring Fling. But during her time at the drafty old building, Lou finds secrets hidden away no one was meant to see, and she learns her new town might be hiding more than she first thought.

Definitely to tabby

As the characters are fine of saying 'Honest three', I loved, loved, loved this book. This is definitely a series that I can't get enough off, not only is it jammed packed with adorable cats (and lovely play on names) but the mystery is really good. I love the small town vibe in this book and even with the characters that are suspects you can't help but hope they don't turn out to be the killer, well most of them. The author does a really good job of making the characters human, which makes you feel like part of the community and you have to love hating a good bully. Lou and her friends are quickly becoming this readers/listener friends. Yes, even after reading the book, I have to add it to my audio book collection to enjoy again. The mystery was interesting with all the suspects and the false alibis that lead you to guessing the wrong killer. The story is well balanced out with mystery investigation, cat cuteness and high school’s annual Spring Fling drama. Off to start the next mystery.
Lou is busy in whisker and words book shop, helping her friend organise high school’s annual Spring Fling and donating books to school libraries, so the last thing she wants to do is chase up a customer who hasn't picked up his book. Especially as when she does she discovers his dead body. He was the town bully and with everybody hating him, nobody is surprised he would take his own life. But Lou doesn't think it is as simple as that. Why order a book and then kill himself? And what about his beloved cat? Things don't add up and the more she looks into it the more she things his death is connected to his past and in particular his school days. Can one of his victims be responsible?
I like the narrator. She does a really good job with the voices, giving each character there own unique and distinctive voice.
