Summary

A major part of this book was originally written and compiled in 1929 by Mrs. Jean (Augusta) Graham. She passed from this world in October of 1977 in her hometown of Osceola, Missouri, after a long illness. She had retired in 1947 and was a member of the Osceola Presbyterian Church. She was active and much loved in the community.

I have taken the opportunity to edit (slightly) this wonderful, humorous audiobook and present it here for your enjoyment.

Within this audiobook is a look back in time to the days when the Osage River was dammed at Osceola and created the Sac-Osage lake. This created an exciting resort community.

Then there’s the story of the Younger-Pinkerton gun battle in which John Younger was killed.

It includes the story of the Osage Indians and how the White men slowly pushed them out of the region, but not before a bloody uprising.

There are other stories to enjoy, but at the end of Jean Graham’s work, I have added a small piece about the looting and burning of Osceola and Bloody Bill Anderson.

This book contains both fiction and nonfiction stories.
