About this listen
Tim Latham had only been riding for the Pony Express for a week before he has to show the new guy the trail. Being raised on a farm in the Sacramento area, the Pony Express gave him an opportunity to see more of the country beyond his family’s little plot of land. He loves everything about the job: the adventure, the scenery, and the speed. Racing the wind on the back of a horse was as close to perfect as he could imagine.
Jeremiah Rollins grew up in San Francisco under the shadow of his father's successful shipping business. But Jeremiah craves the adventure he reads about in the dime novels of which he can’t get enough. On a whim, and despite his father’s disapproval, he signs up for the Pony Express and leaves his old life behind for the steep, rocky trails that cross the Sierra Nevada.
Both men are excited to begin their journey on their first ride together to Nevada Territory. They set out, making their way from station to station, racing as fast as their horses can carry them, and their friendship grows every mile. They both wanted adventure, but they may end up getting more than they dreamed of. Every 10 or 15 miles brings new experiences and new feelings that grow with each mile they pass.

A great adventure for the pony express.
🎧 Narrated by Patrick Miller
3.8 stars = narration.
My first listen to this narrator with this book. I had a hard time differentiating between the voices of Tim and Jeremiah. The accent used for the charactors was good for the country orgins.
📘 5 Stars = story book.
A great start with an adventure of the pony express with two lads riding with Tipper. The story is a beautiful book with both POVs.
• natures animals.
• some special friendships made.
• a shonky station owner and a gorgeous ending for these guys.
New beginnings and a world to explore to get the post through.
Tim was 17 and experiencing the pony express life on horseback delivering mail. He meets a new employee and was expected to show him the trails. Jeremiah traveled west to experience the Mail Express that he'd read in books. From San Fran to the country, his one chance of the job was all he had.

as good as the ebook
The story is always 4-5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.
The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, I’m over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.

Great visit to the wild west!
I love old westerns, and the perspective of a Pony Express rider, 2 even, was so nice. I can’t imagine what that must have been like, but I loved listening to this story. I haven’t read the book yet, but I’m definitely going to read for sure, just to soak in the enjoyment again. I really liked the narrator, Patrick Miller’s voice, totally western sounding to me. I liked the pace of the story and inflection. I definitely would recommend this audio.

Changed my mind
When I first started listening to this I thought, this isn't for me, but I carried on and then I was hooked. As I'm from England I couldn't relate to this until I suddenly had old John Wayne Westerns in my mind and it all kinda clicked. A Taboo relationship excepted by the ones that mattered. Great book.
