Summary

The Askaran desert can no longer sustain the secret hybrid population of wolves bred from those sent there to die for their crimes. Justice knows the time has come to lead his wolves to a new life, but soon realizes his pack could never be governed by, nor swear fealty to, the cruel and despotic Alpha of Solonara - Darius - so he hatches a plan to fight and ultimately kill the Alpha, his heir, and take over the territory.

Cashel should not exist. It was unheard of for an Alpha-heir to be born an omega, and Darius has made every day a torment for his son. After spending years failing to breed another heir and desperate not to have to give his territory away to another pack, he finally turns his attention back to Cashel and a whole new nightmare begins.

Justice’s whole life has been about righting a wrong and delivering the very thing he was named for. Meeting Cashel and finding out he is his true mate sends his carefully constructed plans and promises up in flames. When he discovers Darius’s cruelty runs deeper than any of them imagined, he is faced with a last desperate choice between his love for Cashel or his loyalty to his people.

Brilliant book and Narration

I was absolutely captivated by this audiobook. What I absolutely love about this series is the way that all the books are completely different and strong in their own right. For me there is a fairy tale feel to this story. Cashel is hated by his father and treated so cruelly that my heart hurt for him. Being used and abused for his father’s schemes yet remaining so pure hearted. He is his father’s heir but was born an omega and that makes him worth nothing to his Father. But as we learn as the story progresses Cashel not just any omega. His father never looks beyond the fact he is not an Alpha so never learns what his son is capable of. Justice is exactly what every good Knight in shining armour should be, strong and dependable riding in on his white horse to save the day. Where it is different from a fairy tale is that Cashel is no simpering maiden waiting to be saved but just as strong as Justice in his own way. One of the best shifter series by far.
Wonderful narration by Michael Pauley. He perfectly portrayed the arrogance and vindictive nature of Darius, Cashel’s father. Whilst giving Cashel the purity his character needed. I loved Justice’s growly voice absolutely perfect. His style of narration suits this book in the series. A series I totally recommend.

Wonderful book, and good narration

I’be read this in paperback so I know I loved the story - Cashel and Justice were a great pairing and their tale made for a great read (even if Justice sometimes needed to just listen!). Michael Pauley did a good job of the audio - his narration of the dialogue worked really well with each character uniquely different and fitting for how I interpreted their persona. I wasn’t quite so keen of the non-dialogue elements, but the two were clearly distinct and so worked well together. The sample gives a good representation of the whole tale though and this is just my personal preference. Overall, it’s a great story and well worth a listen.

A good narration .

I have listen to few narrations by Michael Pauley and fine his style flows well at an even pace. He also has the kind of deep voice that is suited well to portraying strong alphas, while also lending itself to the more gentle characters in this book.
An excellent choice for bringing this story to life.

Loved it.

I’ve loved all 3 books. This story of the 3 is my favourite. My only slight issue is that I really loved the narration of the first 2. This one was good but in my opinion not as compelling as the others. It’s took awhile to get used to the narration. By the end though, I did enjoy aspects of the narrator. Excellent story though that translates well to audible. Highly recommended.

A thrilling third instalment

This is book 3 in the Kingdom of Askara series and I have to say I'm enjoying each more than the last, they just keep getting better and better. In this book we have intrigue, betrayal, unlikely alliances and again one of the main characters is so unjustly done to by one of his own. Poor Cashel, his father desperately needs him to have an heir and so he's used by many to try to impregnate him. What he endures is truly awful and he will have you practically weeping for him. Justice is the alpha of his pack and he believes he has one path in his life, but this is thrown into utter disruption on meeting Cashel. The twists and turns have you forever enthralled and the angst and the love have you desperately trying to hang on to the end to see how this all plays out.

We have a new narrator for book 3, Michael Pauley. I know some people get put off when a new narrator is introduced part way through an established series, but please don't be. He does an excellent job with this book and because each instalment can be read/listened to as a standalone with new characters each time, you don't have to listen to already established characters with already distinct voices being newly narrated, if that makes sense, that's why this worked for me. It felt believeable and the voicing of the characters was great. Pacing and timing was spot on and I enjoyed him narrating this story. This shifter series is thoroughly enjoyable and I think even more so when Victoria Sue's world is narrated into life. I totally recommend this book and the entire series.

The Alpha Prince

Cashel is the Alpha’s heir, but has been treated as dirt just for being an omega. He is going to a new contest where he is the price. Justice has come to the games not to win Cashel, but for a noble cause to help his people. There’s a lot of intrigue and action behind the scenes. What truly got to me was Cashel’s life. I wanted to hug him fiercely and wished that he finally find love. He does but not before some misunderstandings and danger lurking. Exciting third book in the series. Great narration too!

So good!

I have adored this series! If you have liked the previous books, you'll love this one also. I really enjoy how Victoria manages to create characters who don't recognise their own strength. I loved Justice and Cashel and really enjoyed the twists and turns in this book. Highly recommended.

Michael Pauley is especially good for this book. I have to say that I am not a fan of his narration at all - I have always found it too over-acted and cringeworthy, particularly sex scenes or any form of distress. But I didn't struggle with that at all while listening to this audiobook which says a lot! He managed to portray Justice and Cashel so well and told the story incredibly well. I'm impressed!

This was better than I expected and a pleasant surprise. I got quite absorbed in the story and it was better than other Victoria Sue books I’ve listened to.
