Summary

The gorgeous CEO of Brewer Air is my boss and, thanks to a bet, my new husband for six months.

Why? Because I begged.

I have a grandmother to support, a stack of bills higher than my five-foot frame, and as a cherry on top, I need to find a new place to live. Soon.

Sure, Jason Brewer’s bright green eyes and chiseled jawline steal my breath. His smirk makes me weak. The former military hero’s protective nature is as sexy as watching him control a boardroom or fly a plane. But none of that matters. I’m desperate—not foolish. I know forever-level commitments aren’t real. This is simply a business transaction with a billionaire.

It’s too bad we didn’t consider all contingencies.

Our first kiss was to seal the deal. The second was in front of an Elvis impersonator. The third kiss led to a honeymoon that was so hot it burned into my memory.

I tell myself it’s okay because there’s an arrangement in place. It’s a—very—enjoyable means to a much-needed end. There’s nothing to worry about.

Except there is …

Jason is determined to prove that we could be more. When he proposes a new arrangement, it changes everything in ways I never saw coming.

From USA Today and Amazon Charts bestselling author Adriana Locke comes a new age-gap workplace romance featuring a former military hero who falls first and hard for his heroine. You will swoon over this spicy standalone romance.

I'm in love with Jason!

This is a really sweet, funny and quick read/listen in the Brewer series.
Jason is the CEO and Chloe is his assistant and friend.
They know each other since she was a kid, and work together for less than a year.

Since the beginning we can see their banter and the endless flirting between them. None of them wants a serious relationship but they are also secretly crushing on each other.

When push comes to shove, they both take a silly bet as an excuse to act on their attraction, and from there on, all bets are off, cause they'll take their vows seriously.

I love series with that bunch of brothers and their bonding time, and Adriana always delivers a great family dynamics.
Mimi on Chloe's side was as good as Jason's brothers.

I guess I only missed something here... Maybe a little angst, since Chloe was so adamantly against love, marriage and kids.

The narration was amazing!

Jason & Chloe!

Oh my, Adriana Locke knows how to get those book boyfriends to worm their way into my heart! This is the second in the Brewer Family series and Jason has found his place with me! Jason is not looking to have a relationship, but now his brothers have placed a bet on his status. His assistant, Chloe who has always had a crush on her boss takes the bet, as it will not only fulfill her fantasies, but take care of her and her grandmother's new found homeless situation. But will she leave after the end date? Will Jason fall as hard as she has? I devoured this book. It not only has one of the most amazing grandparents in it, but the sibling relationship is one every person should strive for. Jason is a catch, but he does carry baggage with him. It's a hurdle that needs jumping. Chloe is younger, a little more naive, but her support, love and loyalty is strong. How does it end? Give it a listen! And fall in love with the whole family!

Sebastian York and Amy McFadden tell the story, and as each scene unfolds, I fell deeper into the story. York is swoony as Jason. He could not have given Jason a more attentive, and warm feeling. Chloe is a bit stubborn and sassy, but her emotions run high. McFadden nails each chapter with ease, giving her the perfect voice. These two were incredible and made this a fantastic listen.

Sweet and steamy

Tropes: Friends to lovers, boss-employee, down on her luck, marriage of convenience, grumpy-sunshine, large family

A fun romance with great banter and chemistry between Jason and Chloe - then lots of steam. I loved Mimi, the grandmother, and Jason's relationship with his siblings - a great family story.

Fabulous narration by Sebastian York and Amy McFadden- amazing choices!

A delightful mix of sweet and steamy

A delightful mix of sweet and steamy, this marriage of convenience romance with an age gap thrown in had me hooked from the first page. Chloe and Jason’s office romance is packed with humor, heat, and heart, making their journey to happily ever after an absolute joy to follow.

Once again, Adriana Locke nails the complexities of family drama and dynamics. What starts as a simple bet between Jason and Chloe quickly deepens as real emotions come into play. Their understated connection blossoms into something powerful, weaving together love, happiness, and a future full of promise. Watching their love story unfold was pure pleasure, and I adored the way Jason cared for both Chloe and Mimi.

Even when tackling tough topics, Ms. Locke always knows how to keep her stories fun. If you love a tale of destined lovers, family shenanigans, and a sassy grandma, you’re in for a treat – made even better by the dual style narration by Amy McFadden – perfectly sassy – and Sebastian York – impeccably grumpy.

Fun and Sweet Age-Gap Workplace Romance!

This is the second book in The Brewer Family Series. Jason and Chloe's story is beautifully written, sweet, fun, passionate, romantic, and engaging. Jason, a former military hero, and CEO of Brewer Air, is handsome, sweet, alpha, possessive, and protective. I liked his determination. Chloe, Jason's executive assistant, is beautiful, young and naive, but strong, and caring. They are opposites attract, and they complement each other. I liked the banter, the slow burn romance, and the humor in the story. The supporting characters are great. Jason's siblings are handsome, hilarious, and supportive. Chloe's grandmother Mimi is such a fantastic supporting character. I loved the family bonds in this story. This is a great age-gap workplace romance. Sebastian York and Amy McFadden did an outstanding job bringing this story to life. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to more in the series.

Sweet

This was such a hot and sweet romance. I absolutely adored how well they both took care of each other, how they loved each other without the other knowing for years. This was full of sweet moment, amazing chemistry and a bit of spice, and also some stress and heartache.
This friends to lovers romance was fast paced and captivating.

Loved these two!

I loved this age gap, workplace, billionaire, marriage of convenience romance. Jason and Chloe were so perfect together! I absolutely loved their chemistry. Jason was absolutely swoon worthy, and I loved how he was the glue that kept his family together. I loved how independent and caring Chloe was.

This book was such a quick, fun listen. I loved the plot, humor, and all of the secondary characters. I thoroughly enjoyed the narration by Sebastian York and Amy McFadden.

Good Narration but lacklustre story

An ALC was provided by Home Cooked Books but all opinions are my own.

📖: 🌟🌟.5/5
🎧: 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5
🥵: 🌶️🌶️/5

The Arrangement is book 2 in the Brewer Family series. It follows Jason Brewer, CEO of Brewer Air and 2nd Brewer sibling, and Chloe Goodman, his Executive Assistant who is struggling under a mountain of debt.

This story definitely had some potential, but it missed the mark for me. I felt we had about 4 hours of build up, setting the scene of Chloe caring for her grandmother and struggling with money following her mother's illness and passing a few years before. However, these issues were almost entirely resolved in the middle of the book and then never mentioned again. This story felt like such a filler book, it barely progressed the overarching plot of their father's incarceration, and didn't involve much character growth.

Chloe's character and disdain for love have been built by years of watching her grandmother suffer in her marriage, and her parents' breakdown entirely. But it's okay because the right man made her see sense. And the fact that she had no wish for children, well seeing her attractive husband holding a baby solved that for her as well. I didn't like the narrative that "maybe she just hadn't met the right man yet". There was no conflict over this desire for no kids, she just suddenly changed her mind.

Jason had a some depth, struggling with middle child syndrome from a lack of attention from his parents, and having to come to terms with the actions of his father is previous stories (if you haven't read them, this story will make a lot less sense!), but this definitely took a sideline to his relationship with Chloe, which had no conflict other than she couldn't say the words "I love you" immediately after he did.

The narration was strong! Amy McFadden was new to me, and I enjoyed her variety of voices and her pacing was exactly right. Sebastian York can be hit or miss for me, and this was definitely more of a hit. His tone was less drawling than it can be, which I prefer.

Overall, good narration but the story was lacklustre.
