About this listen
When raised to the level of art, seduction, an indirect and subtle form of power, has toppled empires, won elections, and enslaved great minds. The Art of Seduction synthesizes the legacies of civilization's greatest seducers - from Cleopatra to JFK - with the philosophies of important intellectuals on the subject, including everyone from Freud to Kierkegaard and Ovid to Casanova, and the classic literature of seduction. Robert Greene identifies the rules of a timeless, amoral game and explores how to cast a spell, break down resistance, and, ultimately, compel a target to surrender. The Art of Seduction is an indispensable primer on the essence of one of history's greatest weapons and the ultimate form of power.

Good book, but the reader left out so much
So much of the great book was left out by the reader. I have read the paper back version.

The art of manipulation - a guide for sociopaths
I tried very hard not to agree with the negative comments and finished the book to keep an open mind, as I’ve never viewed seduction as a negative…
This book is written as a sinister guide on how to callously fuck with someone’s head. That’s part seduction, but mostly takes a heavy handed push on gaslighting, love-bombing, ghosting and extreme manipulation (I.e. change your personality, and when you get what you want end it swiftly or start a new game? lol)
Seduction is light and playful, you can still influence people without being so abusive.
If you’re reasonable you’ll take useful tips and apply it more positively, otherwise this is a guide for sociopaths.

Difficult listen
This book should be titled ‘The Abuser’s Guide to Romance’. Some of the techniques were relatively lighthearted but most were cruel and extremely abusive. However, I can’t give this book a poor rating as the author is spot on. I can confirm that the techniques are highly effective. In addition to counselling, I would recommend this book to anyone who has been broken down, and has had their entire life dismantled, by another person. Sections will be triggering (the section on how to isolate a person from everything and everyone that they love was particularly uncomfortable) but I truly believe it will help to avoid repeating experiences with these hideous people.
