About this listen

Ten years ago, Andrea Hayes was the best master bombmaker in the business. Young, beautiful, and deadly, she was the favourite of her Irish republican masters. Then it all went wrong. Five children were killed, when disruption was all that was intended. It all became too much, and she turned away from her trade.…

Now, a new Andrea Hayes lives a safe suburban life, with her loving husband and young daughter. Safe in the knowledge that her past is another country. But then her daughter is kidnapped and the past has come knocking.

Great story

Stephen Leather is one of my favourite authors and once again produces the goods which is aided by an exemplary performance by Sean Barrett.

Brilliant as always

Thoroughly enjoyed the book, as I do with all the Stephen Leather books I've read and listened to in the past. The narration was fab too.. Job well done!

brilliant book

I read this book years ago upon a recommendation from a friend and thought it was great, years later it's as good as I remember. S Leather at his finest in my opinion.
Great movie too.

Really good, I loved it

I like Stephen Leather anyway, but this book exceeded my expectations. It was fast paced, and I couldn't stop listening. Of course it's a bit far fetched near the end, but I still loved it!

A great thriller!

I am a new listener to Stephen Leather and wow, what have I been missing.
Great pace, great characters and a compelling dilemma.
Every line had a purpose in driving the story forward.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and the style.
Sean Barrett delivers the story with the appropriate authority and story like this deserves.
Almost sad to have finished it.

What a disappointment

I'm an avid Stephen Leather fan and have loved all his books, so I don't know what happened here. The plot is unrealistic and at times tedious, the course of events is predictable. The story is based on a female ex IRA bombmaker being kidnapped and forced to make a massive bomb for no apparent reason. You just know the good guys will come out on top, and the bad guys get their just punishment. The saving grace was the excellent narration by Sean Barrett.
