Summary

Criminal defence lawyers must make their peace with one harsh fact of life: most of their clients are guilty.

Yet when William Tucker, a celebrated and self-centered star college football player, is suddenly arrested and charged with the brutal rape and murder of a college coed two years before, his broken-down, drunken estranged father, Frank, can't believe he's guilty. What father could?

But Frank is also an ex-criminal defence lawyer. Now Frank must find a way to sober up and save his son from the death penalty sought by an ambitious district attorney. Can a father's love for his accused son save him from death?

Another winner

I have enjoyed the previous books by Mark Giminez with mixed results. This book stands firmly in the excellent category. Well written characters and plot, combined with one of my favourite narrators from the Lee Child books.

If it wasn't for Jeff Harding......

The story is sentimental, moralistic and repetitive, with cardboard characters. Jeff Harding does a professional job, reading with dramatic gusto and enough conviction to carry the listener through to the end.

Errors on listening

Wasnt a bad book tbh but it got spoiled for me and had to do a refund in the end as the last couple of chapters words started getting clipped and it felt like some things were just dropped mid sentence so yeah couldnt understand what was going on :( tried redownloading as well downloading on tablet but same issue on last couple of chapters.

Enthralling Listen

I was drawn into this book from the beginning. The characters are believable (if not a little eccentric) the story unfolds with touches of humour and held me to the end.
As always Jeff Harding is exceptional in his narration, bringing the story to life.
My favourite author and favourite narrator, my only problem is - I have listened to all the books.
Thank you to both of them!

good listen

Decent story. As always, Gimenez uses engaging characters and as always, Jeff Harding reads it brilliantly. Good easy going legal thriller

Excellent in all respects

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Definately

What other book might you compare The Case Against William to, and why?

One or two of Grishams' have the same basic story line i.e good lawyer goes bad and then good again but that comparison can be made in all gendres after all there are only so many story lines the writers art is making their one individual

Have you listened to any of Jeff Harding’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Many - as usual his performance is superb - a true master of the art.
