Summary

When a body turned up at her last catering gig it certainly put people off the hors d’oeuvres. With a reputation to salvage, Jodie’s determined that her next job for the village’s festival will go off without a hitch.

But when chaos breaks out, Jodie Parker somehow always finds herself caught up in the picture. The body of a writer from the festival is discovered at the bottom of a cliff, and the prime suspect turns out to be the guest of honour, the esteemed painter Duncan Stovall.

With her background in the Met police, Jodie has got solving cases down to a fine art so she knows things are rarely as they seem.

Can she find the killer before the village faces another brush with death?

Wasn't expecting that!

Another gentle murder mystery, entertaining and enjoyable though I didn't work this one out so quickly! And I have to say for a supposedly intelligent ex-copper, Jodie is so hopeless at reading the male of the species and how they feel about her 🤦🏻‍♀️
So glad I happened across this author when searching for books narrated by my favourite vocal artist Zara Ramm.

An artistic tale.

A good listen but not as good as her first book in this series. Still worth 4 stars though and the narrator does bring the characters to life.

Loved it!!

A really lovely story with excellent characters and a good story that is well paced and fun. I particularly loved the bits that involved cake. I would thoroughly recommend.

Love it

I generally Love anything Sara Ramm is narrating. She had a brilliant voice.
But this was quiet a good story. With a lot of humor. Lots of fun. Totally worth the listening .

witty and enjoyable

This writer makes me laugh out loud. i did get a little confused about the burner phones. i also found the explanation of the murder a little too lengthyThe narrator is fabulous. her voice and accents are perfect. the Cornish accent is a very hard one to do. Looking forward to the next book in the series

Enjoyable, good story line but...

Enjoyable, but the main character is a bit of a "desperado." Mooning over every good-looking bloke, married or not like an immature teen. Spoilt an otherwise good read.

Another cracker.

The only thing I don’t like about this book is the assumption that someone in their late 60’s/ 70’s is doddery and demented. Other than that, I enjoyed VB it immensely. The narrator is excellent.

This was yet another funny and interesting story. Plenty of twists and turns brought to life by the narrator again.
