About this listen

Escape to the seaside village of Little Pondale with parts one and two of this heartwarming and romantic four-part serial.

Mia Ward is amazed to learn she has inherited her great-aunt Matilda’s thatched cottage in the tiny seaside village of Little Pondale - especially as Mia didn’t know she had a great-aunt. She’s even more astonished to discover she’ll inherit the place only if she actually lives there for one year.

Mia’s a city girl at heart, not to mention she’s afraid of water, so the fact the cottage backs onto a sandy beach is not a bonus. When her best friend, Ella, and Ella’s brother, Garrick, offer to help her move and settle in, Mia decides to see this as a new beginning.

It may also be the start of an exciting adventure because now Mia wants to know just who, exactly, was Great-Aunt Matilda. But it soon becomes clear that someone is trying to make sure Mia doesn’t stay in Little Pondale.

Not finished

The book ended without really finishing. Didn’t live up to my expectations.
I dislike one character and the word “deary”

Promising start

A really interesting plot to begin with, but it sadly gave way to what seemed endless chiselled jaw & damsel in distress material, accentuated heavily by the narrators tone. Great if that's your bag, but too much for me to continue in order to find out how it ended.

enjoyed the story but the narrators voice was rather annoying. she sounded too forced as if she was laughing! apart from that I am looking forward to the next book in this series

Disappointing and annoying narrator

Weak story and highly disappointing end. The narrator was not easy to listen to either

How could it end like that?

Wasn’t sure I was going to like this book but I was so wrong. Who will win Mia’s heart?! Need to listen to the next book ASAP

Narrator's irritating voice

I didn't realise the narrator was Penny Andrews before I got this audible title. She also narrates for another of my favourite authors Holly Martin. This is now two authors whose books are lost to me because of this narrator's voice. The storyline was OK, though the two words 'bloody Nora' all the way through was annoying beyond belief. It was difficult to keep up with who was dating who in this village. The ending was very odd, just stopped dead for no apparent reason.

Nice story idea

Story started well but became a little damsel in distress towards the end. Characters are likeable. There was no distinction between book 1 and 2, will give the next one a go and hope it continues the story.
