About this listen
THE UNMISSABLE, UNRELENTINGLY GRIPPING NEW BOOK FROM THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLING MASTER OF THE UP-ALL-NIGHT THRILLER
You thought she was safe. You were wrong . . .
Lauren can't wait to see her daughter again, to pick her up from university at the end of her first term. But when she arrives at her hall and knocks on the door to her room, a stranger opens it.
At first, Lauren thinks she must have the wrong room, or the wrong floor. Maybe even the wrong building.
But she soon realises the truth: Evie's not there. She hasn't been there for weeks. So where is she?
Following one family's desperate race against time as one terrifying moment unravels into a living nightmare, The Daughter is the unmissable new heart-in-mouth thriller from the Sunday Times bestselling author of The Mother and The Dream Home.

The narrator's performance is not working for me
Loved the start of story which is easy to relate to at first with a believable family, but it becomes sinister around part 4 and my enjoyment started to wain . It is a well constructed novel with quite a bit of car chase and building of tension. I stuck with it until put the end because I really wanted to find out what happened but feel a bit let down although the situation resolved itself with a few surprises.
I struggled with the narrator. Her Lorna voice sounds far too young for the mother role and makes it all sound rather unbelievable although her interpretation it works for the child and younger women .

Narrator ruined the story
I’m a big fan of T.M. Logan and have loved all his previous books, but this one didn’t quite live up to the others for me. The story was interesting, and the pace picked up towards the end, with some great twists along the way. However, what really impacted my enjoyment was the narration. The delivery felt jerky and monotonous, with awkward pauses and little distinction between characters. The narrator stopped and started sentences in the oddest places, often pausing after every word, which made it frustrating to listen to. T.M. Logan, please consider a different narrator for future audiobooks!

A really enjoyable page turner and I liked the narration!
I nearly didn’t bother with this book because of the negative comments in the reviews about the narration. Having listened to the sample I decided I liked Louise Brealey’s style and was so glad I persevered. A cracking story full of suspense with some great characters all perfectly delineated. Actors put in an enormous amount of time and preparation before spending days inside a small recording studio bringing a book and all it’s characters to life. Of course it’s the listeners prerogative to criticise the end product, but to be so damning is quite hurtful and could have a bearing on recording companies about their future employment. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I thought the narration was great.

Narration
A decent enough story ruined by awful narration.
Hard to keep listening at times - flat, with little to distinguish between characters.

Fabulous
I thoroughly enjoyed this absolutely fabulous story. The twists, concepts and sheer excitement of the story made it a number one for me.
Adverse criticism has been made of the narration and although it’s not of the highest quality for such a great book it didn’t spoil the tale for me. I do agree that a first class narrator deserves to be telling these stories though!
Keep on entertaining us TM ! Thank you so much for your imagination and gripping novels x

Enjoyable story.
I’ve read all TM Logan’s books and throughly enjoyed them all and he is a firm favourite of mine. This story was very intricate and complex. It wasn’t the easiest story to follow and occasionally it became a little bit far fetched. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it and the narration was great but I just didn’t enjoy it as much as all his others books.
