I have really enjoyed this series and looking forward to the next one but one warning it is a bit gory in places.

Ok
I listened to this after listening to 'the Yard' by the same author. It follows many of the same characters. The story is quite entertaining, if a little predictable, but I have to say that some of the characters became a bit grating, after a while.

Thoroughly enjoyable
Great story, excellent narration. Could not listen to this before going to sleep as the voice of one of the characters voice made my flesh crawl. Just as it should for the characterisation. Well done to the narrator.

The Devils Workshop
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. I have always enjoyed the era of the late 19th. century and Alex Grecian brings it to life with some great characters and a free flowing exciting storyline. For some it may seem a little gory but set in the time of Jack the Ripper the blood lust does not feel excessive. Indeed it transports the listener into the London of that time.
What did you like best about this story?
How the different characters interacted and were all brought through the story together.
What does Nigel Carrington bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Nigel Carrington is one of the better readers and he managed to portray so many different characters well enough to enable the listener to know exactly who is who and to follow the story very easily.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
At times.
Any additional comments?
I intend to purchase the Walter Day stories in the future as they become available.

As an Alex Grecian fan.......
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
It started out so well, I loved the books leading up to this one, and initially I was not disappointed..... but the further I got the less I liked. It is all so gory, which I can deal with but Jack simply takes over from the general well loved characters and left me cold.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I think the concept was very good, if only the author had not become obsessed with Jack, much lost when the true people we came here for are overshadowed
What about Nigel Carrington’s performance did you like?
This was good - no fault. Good clear diction, lots of feeling, emotive and easy to follow
Do you think The Devil's Workshop needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
I know it has a follow up book and it most certainly will not be in my wish list
Any additional comments?
I was so excited to start this book.but its telling that I didnt finish reading it -

Rather gory but a good listen
If you don't like vivid descriptions of blood and gore then this is definitely not for you. If you don't mind it, then the continuing adventures of Day and Hammersmith will definitely catch your attention. There has been a prison break but even the warden isn't sure how many prisoners have escaped. Walter Day is rather preoccupied with his wife due to give birth any day now but he and Hammersmith are on the trail of the 4 (or is it 5?) escapees. This is a good listen but the excessive gore makes it unsuitable for younger passengers so be warned!
