About this listen

With this audio, you will here the original Gettysburg Address by Abraham Lincoln in less than 60 minutes, plus much more. To improve your understanding of the Address, we have included original readings and commentary related to its subject, such as the Emancipation Proclamation and Pericles' Funeral Oration.

Fewer people than you may think have read or even heard of the Gettysburg Address. Fewer still have read or heard of the Emancipation Proclamation or Pericles Funeral Oration, including many teachers and academics. If you're looking to get an A - or if you're just curious - this audio will put you ahead of the class!

This program is part of the Simply Magazine Great Thoughts series, which emphasizes short readings so you can spend your valuable time thinking about the subjects and have time to re-listen to these original works. Its easy to find what you are looking for, because the tracks are organized by subject. For example, many people in book clubs discuss the subject after each track. This also works well for teachers, especially as the track lengths are relatively short.

This was agony to listen to. I pity his students.

What would have made The Gettysburg Address better?

A different narrator. Even Donald Duck.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Gettysburg Address?

When he shut up.

Would you be willing to try another one of Deaver Brown’s performances?

Never - I'll read the speech.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Gettysburg Address?

None it needs ro be listened to.

Any additional comments?

How he had the audacity to release his reading of this most memorable speech I just do not know. A 9 year old should read better than this professor..

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
