Some secrets are worth killing for.

In an upscale Bel Air property, two lovers are found dead in a swimming pool. The man is the playboy heir to a business empire, and the woman is his even wealthier married neighbour.

An illicit affair is the perfect motive. But the house is untouched - no forced entry, no forensic evidence - and so LAPD homicide lieutenant Milo Sturgis and asks psychologist Alex Delaware to help unpick the case.

It quickly becomes clear that both victims had troubled pasts. Now Alex and Milo must confront LA's darkest side as they unravel a trail of deadly secrets...

A great book to listen to

I really enjoyed this detective story. It has lots of twists and turns and the man narrating it is brilliant. I must recommend it.

Great series

Another good addition to Delaware series. Slightly rushed ending this time but great to be back with Alex, Milo, Robin and Blanche. Love these characters and no-one paints a scene better than Jonathan Kellerman.

Easy listen, great characterisation

My first Jonathon Kellerman novel and will certainly try another,
I thought the narrative was beautifully described throughout and I felt that I got to really know the characters and could picture every scene as if there myself. I enjoyed how we were walked through the investigation but was expecting a bit more twist and turn. Overall enjoyed listening every day on my way to and from work but was expecting a little more of an element of surprise, felt a little bit rushed to conclude.

Brilliant as always

Another fantastic Alex & Milo adventure, Two separate stories in one book. This really needs to be made into a TV series, as long as they follow the books. Can't wait for the next one, but have to wait until next year 😭

I always love reading JK and enjoy the psychologist (as I am one too), his insights, relationships and the storyline.

The narrator was dreadful: poor reading of the sentences with strange pauses and inaccurate word pronunciations, for example. I think I’ll return to reading the JK books myself!

Good but not great

The characters and performance save this one. Story was unusually weak. Just a fairly common or garden police procedural. Fortunately the characters who are now familiar keep the interest.

Disappointing

I’ve read every book by Jonathan Kellerman and look forward to each new one. This one isn’t his best work and I was disappointed. It was very slow paced and with a predictable plot that did not surprise or intrigue. Let’s hope he’s back on form soon.
