Summary

Annie Allbright is an 11-year-old superhero. Every night when she goes to sleep, Annie travels to a magical world where dragons have tea parties with teddy bears, cobras play chess, and the fairy godmother is an urban legend that no one will talk about. Along with her constant companion, a giant rabbit named Grimsley, she gets to have the kinds of adventures she's always read about in stories.

Middle school, on the other hand? That's not going very well. Annie might be a hero in Bibylonia, the world she visits in her dreams, but at school, she and her best friend Jay are the favorite targets of the biggest bullies in their class. In Bibylonia there's no problem she can't solve, but here at home Annie has never felt less in control.

No matter how helpless she feels at school, at least Annie's always been able to escape into her dreams. But when a man called John Doe with the power to manipulate people's emotions begins terrorizing the citizens of Bibylonia, Annie discovers that the line between dreams and reality may not be as solid as she thought it was. In order to save both of her worlds from complete destruction and survive sixth grade, Annie will have to figure out who she really is—the girl she is at home, or the hero she wants to be.
