Duke Dempsey is a private investigator in 1938 Charleston, SC. He is thrust into the case of a lifetime when the Vatican comes calling and hires him to find an invaluable relic. Charleston is also hit with the mysterious murders of a prominent priest of St. Patrick's Cathedral and a local cop. 1930 crime/ detective book
The Holy City Murders is a book based in Charleston SC in 1939. The story is about a string of murders committed by a Nazi looking for a religious relik. The investigation is conducted by Duke Dempsey and his old partner Detective Stampkin.
I read this book in January and absolutely loved it. The character of Duke is brilliant and Gene Blake did a great job at playing him.
Blake's narration brought all the characters to life and had that edgy 1930s type accent which made the story come to life.
I highly recommend this audiobook and I'm looking forward to starting the 2nd book in the series.
The author gave me a copy of this audiobook in return for an honest review.
