Summary

Pre-order Evie Wood’s stunning new book The Story Collector now!

The Echo of Old Books meets The Lost Apothecary in this evocative and charming novel full of mystery and secrets.

‘The thing about books,’ she said ‘is that they help you to imagine a life bigger and better than you could ever dream of.’

On a quiet street in Dublin, a lost bookshop is waiting to be found…

For too long, Opaline, Martha and Henry have been the side characters in their own lives.

But when a vanishing bookshop casts its spell, these three unsuspecting strangers will discover that their own stories are every bit as extraordinary as the ones found in the pages of their beloved books. And by unlocking the secrets of the shelves, they find themselves transported to a world of wonder… where nothing is as it seems.

Hailed as one of the best releases of 2023, this contemporary romance weaves a tale of realism across multiple timelines, cementing its place as a top pick in women's general fiction. Its great acclaim has quickly spread, poised to be the latest and last book you'll need to complete your must-read list for the year. For fans of Sally Page (The Book of Beginnings), Fiona Valpy (The Cypress Maze), Eve Chase (The Glass House) and Barbara Davis (The Echo of Old Books) and Jill Mansell (The One You Really Want).

I became thoroughly lost in this magical read

This book had me gripped from beginning to end. The interweaving stories worked so well and all joined for a very satisfying conclusion. I loved the characters and the narrators carried them out to perfection.

a refreshing find.

a surprisingly good read! I usually stay well away from first person stories I fine then too much like fan faction. however, this book is very well written, and works brilliantly with three narrators. very enjoyable.

Enjoyable magical tale

It’s always nice to come across a story that’s not just another endless version of a samey genre. This was a lovely gentle story set over 2 time periods where we follow two sets of characters in their respective time and how they relate to each other. It’s part mystery, part love story and part concerning men’s treatment of women, all wrapped up with a sprinkle of magic.

It’s an easy listen and the writing is uncomplicated- nothing that set my world alight and a little cheesy in places, but warm and compelling. I will probably listen again once I’ve forgotten what happened.

A wonderful book

I loved every minute of the book. Evie is a wonderful storyteller; the structure of the plot, the shaping of the characters and the performance was just wonderful. As soon as in finished The Lost Bookshop I was looking to buy the next one, The Mysterious Bakery on Rue de Paris, the Story Collector and the Heirloom. I hope any of her other books will be available on Audible soon.

overall enjoyable

Spoiled to a slight extent by the poor pronunciation of French and German words from one of the narrators.

Amazing story

This was the best audio book I have listened to all year.
I loved the story - so unique and not predictable at all.
The narrators were really good, seemed to suit the characters and easy listening.
I’m sad the author hasn’t got more available.
