Summary
When Cassie accepts a job as companion to an old lady in a remote Lancashire village, she hopes for a quiet life where she can forget herself, her past and most especially men. The last thing she wants is to be drawn into saving a community that seems determined to take her to its heart and to resuscitate hers....
Frances lives a reclusive life at Ramblings, a Victorian Gothic mansion. But her nephew Barney - whose medical career ended in scandal - is now staying too. He's suspicious of Cassie, especially when she starts to steal his rich aunt's affection and maybe his own too....

Much nicer than the cover portrays
This is a really nice book, and the story though predictable in parts, still holds attention and is really warm. The cover could have been much more enticing than it is. The image really has little bearing on the story at all, the house & gardens in it are well kept not like this photo conveys. So don’t let the cover put you off.
The story has a familiarity warmth and flow to it. The characters I really liked, both the main ones and those in the village, and I was sorry to leave Ramblings when the book finished.
