Summary
After a long and brutal conflict, the war is over.
Otto controls all the portals on the continent, and Garenland has made vassals of the other kingdoms.
But some people can’t accept defeat.
While Otto hunts King Villares in Rolan, Axel chases Prince Uther across Straken. With Markane scheming to help their enemies, the future of the New Garen Empire is far from certain.
Even worse, the Wizards Guild is challenging Otto for leadership of the empire’s wizards, and they’ll use any means necessary to win.
The war may be over, but the battles are far from won.

An entertaining story and interesting characters.
This was another good entry to the series. The narration was again very good.
The series thus far has seen a seemingly good man slowly descend into becoming a power hungry sociopath with barely a shred of consciousness left. Otto is not so much descending into madness but rather complete apathy. This latest entry to the series sees our protagonist commit a casual genocide whilst barely batting an eyelid - not to mention his other war crimes.
Otto knows he's becoming a monster, but has seemingly stopped caring in his pursuit of power and knowledge. I honestly find it quite fascinating and I am looking forward to the next book in the saga.
Axel still makes his appearance as the deuteragonist of series though seemingly less often than before. I find him to be a compelling character, and whilst he is by no means perfect his good nature and loyalty to his men make him easy to route for.
Unfortunately some of the other secondary characters make an appearances less often in the book, which is probably why this entry is shorter than past ones. However it still enjoyable.
FYI: I would rate the story at about 3.5 out of 5 to be more accurate.

No Heroes Here!
You'll like this series...if you're a villain. The MC is a psychopathic megalomaniac, determined to rule the world like any other villain, He doesn't have any redeeming quality so it's difficult for me to enjoy reading it. The series are all the atrocities a Villian commits until finally a Hero might be born somewhere to end his reign. There are no heroes or heroin in this series, BE WARNED.
