Summary

Paige might bake wedding cakes for a living but that doesn't mean she's dreaming about her own perfect day. Far from it. Trusting people is hard after she was badly let down by her family and boyfriend just when she needed them most. And to make things worse, her ex has just walked into her bakery with his new fiancée....

Needing a little no-strings-attached fun, Paige goes to a party where her friend knows just the guy - the guy in the black top. There's just one problem. There are two men wearing black tops. Noah was meant to be her perfect distraction...instead, he wants more than just a bit of fun. But could the wrong guy turn out to be the right choice?

NOT ALL ROMCOM!

This was advertised as a romcom, which there was romance in it and I enjoyed the dates, they were lighthearted BUT the root of the book was serious.

This was about a breast cancer survivor navigating her way through her love life for the first time since her breast surgery and chemotherapy. She has a cancer scare again when she found a lump and has to have a biopsy.

The narrator Sophie Roberts did her job well.
Personally I wish it was more laugh out loud funny but it is what it is!

This was free in the included membership 'plus catalogue' so I saved a credit which I am happy about.

A biopsy to far!

I read the description of The Mix-Up before I bought it. However it should be renamed "My Cancer Diary". The description of Paige sobbing in the shower after finding another lump and then undergoing a biopsy was both very distressing and unnecessary to progress the story! If this had been a short story of a woman who had survived cancer and found love and her confidence again after a long struggle, I would have enjoyed it much more! It is advertised as a "Romantic Comedy" but doesn't feel like one.
