Summary
Edward Powell lives with his aunt Mildred in the Welsh town of Llwll. His aunt thinks Llwll an idyllic place to live, but Edward loathes the countryside and thinks the company even worse.
In fact, Edward has decided to murder his aunt.

Unusual story, well read.
The story of how Edward, our inept ‘hero’, sets out to murder his aunt.
The author creates an absolutely appalling central character, with no redeeming qualities, yet still makes the narrative both entertaining and suspenseful.
Set in rural Wales between the world wars there is a good sense of time and place. Very well read by Gordon Griffin.
Recommend.

Disappointing
The story is about two horrific people with no redeeming features, even the peripheral characters sound awful . You have no empathy or connection to anyone, the story is weak irritating, and the ending inevitable

Hilarious dark humour and still a thriller
This is an excellent book and a true period piece with a genius tipping of the formula we
expect, turned upside down. A spoilt young man who lazes about living with the aunt who brought
him p when he was orphaned. He thinks of himself as a sophisticate and the epitome of a between the wars
sybarite. The increasing bore cramping his way of life is his guardian aunt, who not only runs his trust fund but has
the power to change the conditions of the trust. A true Edwardian she thoroughly disapproves of her nephew's ghastly
behaviour looking down his nose at everything around the family estate he is supposed to inherit and and general snooty attitude to the rural way of life in the Welsh countryside. He decides that he must murder his aunt. The reveal at the end of
the book is an absolute winner. Enjoy this book that turns the usual conventions on theirs heads yet retains the period feel
that makes the book even funnier and more horrifying - if it has been a film I would have covered my eyes. LF London

Great mystery novel, excellent reader
Loved the novel when I read it on paper and enjoyed it again a lot with the narrator.
Without giving away a spoiler, there is a twist that you might think the narrator would struggle with, but not at all.

Just William grown up mixed with a dash of jives and Wooster
I really like this a bit like Just William mixed in with Jeeves and Wooster …. That kind of feel and time ☺️I really enjoyed it right up to the end ☺️
