About this listen

Anna is the newest member of an elite ballet company. Her first class with her mysterious idol Victoria almost ruins her career before it starts. When she shows she might be a potential star, Victoria chooses Anna to launch a new season around.

Now Anna must face down jealousy, sabotage, and injury, not to mention navigate the circus of friends and lovers within the company. The pressure builds as she knows she must pour everything she has into opening night and prove to her rivals and herself that Victoria’s faith in her is not misplaced.

In the process, Anna discovers that she and the daring, beautiful Victoria have a lot more than a talent for ballet in common, and that not every thrilling dance can be found on stage.

Taking a leap into love

This was a fantastic book so well written. The narration was amazing, the voices were different so you could easily tell who was who, and the narrator brought the story to life.

The story is about Anna who joins a professional ballet school to join the team as just a background dancer. That’s when Anna has a lesson with a very strict teacher called Victoria who was a professional principal ballet dancer but got hurt during a performance, they didn’t get along at first as Anna’s phone went off in class and that was nearly the end of her career before it even started, but given a chance to prove herself to Victoria. Victoria is impressed with the way Anna dances and believes she is a rare find and has a special dancing talent that Victoria haven’t seen in years, so offers her the chance to be a principal in a new show she wants to direct.

They have lots of ups and downs in the story. It was a very slow burn romance and I love that. The story is from both Victoria and Anna’s point of view and I think that made the story for me. I will definitely keep an eye out for this author and I will continue to listen to this narrator.

rushed ending

I liked the story, but I have rarely experienced such a rushed ending. It felt like the author was running for her life to finish the book in the end, and it didn't really come across as very authentic or convincing. There were nice parts in the middle though, and narration also quite alright.

brilliant story - captivating

Very good book and well performed. The kind of audiobook that makes you want to run further just to listen longer.

Oh dear! What a shame...

I SO wanted this to be good as I love ballet and thought I was on to a winner as other reviewers seem to be in love with this book. But sadly I found the story thin and rather immature! Everything was too black and white, problems too easily overcome, characters too simplistic, irritating or both. I found myself having to rewind a lot as the story is so dull and improbable and I would suddenly realise that had missed several minutes due to lack of interest/boredom or just zoning out. Sometimes I was just one click away from requesting my credit back but would then decide to give it the benefit of the doubt and allow just a few more minutes and eventually I got so far through that I resigned myself to wait and see what happened in the end.... unsurprisingly there was no big surprise and I wish I had requested my credit back! Sadly the narration was 'meh' which probably didn't help but I won't be holding my breath for another book from the author, nor seeking out the narrator unless for assistance with sleep issues.

Turned off!!!

A lot of books I’ve listened to lately talks about evil old white men? If you said that about any other colour of skin it would be racist, why is this any different? As soon as I hear this I stop listening, it’s boring.
