Entertaining

I didn’t realise until I was well into this story that it links with other titles by Jane Casey. The ones where she follows Maeve Kerrigan. In The Outsider, one of her colleagues is now working undercover and his task is to infiltrate a family where the patriarch is involved in nefarious dealings. He’s wealthy, powerful, vindictive and suspicious and has a family tied to him, almost physically.
I really enjoyed this tale as we follow events destined to end in trouble. Well paced and totally gripping in part, a neat psychological thriller that kept me listening and I whipped through this title in a couple of sessions. Great storytelling.

Brilliant read

This was such a brilliant read. It kept you hooked from start to finish, with really believable characters and a main character who you really cared about. Really hope there is a follow up. Well worth a read!!!

"I have plans for you."

My first book by Jane Casey, and I was riveted. Narrator Josh Richard was so convincing as Robert/Mark and performed the whole book with aplomb. The writing was good, the characters interesting, the whole a real page turning (audible) thriller.
As I understand it, this is a spin off from a series about one of the other characters who plays a minor part in The Outsider. But this book stands alone.

Highly recommended.

Quite enjoyable

I’m a fan of Jane Casey but I didn’t like this as much as her other books. I found the first half very slow and thought some of the actions the main character took were not very believable.

Start of a series?

Took a while to get into this story, but glad I stuck with it. Well narrated, and interesting plot. Will try another if one appears as part of a series..

Terrifyingly brilliant.

This story gripped me from the very beginning. I made sure to find time to listen wherever and whenever possible. The narration added to the suspense too. it was a lovely surprise to have Maeve and Derwent popping up too. Please keep these stories coming Jane. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Geraint - awful pronunciation

I almost gave up on the audio version in the first few minutes due to the unrecognisable pronunciation of this characters name. it continued to irritate throughout the book. Surely the editor's job is to ensure that a main character's name isn't being mangled?

so good

Jane Casey is such a good storyteller. I practically inhaled this. If you've not read/listened to the Maeve Kerrigan books, start with those. The only thing that bothered me ever so slightly, is the fact that Rob didn't have a northern accent. He's from Manchester, admittedly from money, but even so, he should have a northern twang.
