Excellent performance

This is the only book by Henry James that I found boring; the prose is as fine as always but the story wanders curiously between genres. Fundamental (as one slowly finds out) is the topic of late nineteenth century radical socialism, and the book does deliver insight into the deracinated nature of the ideologue. Out of respect for the great man, I persisted until the end.
