About this listen
True stories of life and death from a New Zealand pathologist
From the number one best-selling author of The Cause of Death comes an audiobook about the unlikely, extraordinary, obscure and often tragic ways humans meet their end.
A dead body without a trace of trauma; alien parasites; worms of the brain; crocodile attacks and bizarre eating disorders....In The Quick and the Dead, pathologist and self-confessed death-aficionado Dr. Cynric Temple-Camp takes listeners into a world of disease and death as he seeks answers for those who were unlucky, and those still alive to tell the tale.

Volume too low
the actual content of this audiobook was great. But the whole thing was just far too quiet.

very interesting life experience
Great story, lot's of interesting details about pathothology, Zimbabwe, New Zealand and life!
Only annoying thing is the narrator did not research his pronounciations properly. There's Zimbos, Safas and Kiwis all round the world screaming out correct pronounciations of words, places and names

Fascinating stories, uninspiring narration
The book itself was fine but I wasn’t keen on the narrator. Requiciscat in pace? Surely Requiescat? It started to grate after a while.

Love all Cynric Temple-Camp’s books!
This was the third title I have listened to from this author and thoroughly enjoyed them all. They are really well written to tell the stories of the cases he was involved in throughout his career, and the narrators have been well selected also. I have listened to many audiobooks and find having a good narrator is just as important as the content of the book. If you are fascinated by pathology, I would highly recommend this book along with The Cause of Death and The Final Diagnosis. I have listened to several books written by pathologists/anthropologists and Cynric’s are among the best ones.

Fascinating!
Narration was good.
The book is fascinating and really shows the humanity of the author. No bragging about how good he is at his job, just an honest set of reflective accounts. A very good book indeed
