Summary
When sixty-eight-year-old Vietnam War veteran David Granger wakes up from emergency surgery, he finds himself repeating a name: Clayton Fire Bear, a soldier from whom he stole something long ago. And now, David knows he must make amends. It might be the only way to find happiness in a world increasingly at odds with the one he served to protect, and it might also help him recover from the loss of the wife he grieves for every day.
Motivated by his adoring young granddaughter, Ella, David sets out to confront his past in order to salvage his present. Grumpy and argumentative he may be, but ultimately The Reason You're Alive challenges us to look beyond our own prejudices and search for the good in others.

Absolutely brilliant!!!
For last year or so I haven't written any reviews on the great books I've read, prior to that I would write a review after each book. The books I've read have been good, but I just didn't feel bothered to write a review... until now.
This audio book was fantastic, the blase way in which the main characters story is portrayed is fantastic. The matter of factness of the characters words and the lack of pretence attached to his honest to god view of life gives the retoric blatent humour that will have you in stitches. RC Bray makes the words come alive! The dude, as always, is brilliant and any other narrator probably would not have done this book justice.
A most listen even if this is not your type of genere. If you're an RC Bray fan its a no brainer to spend 1 audible credit on this one. You won't regret it.

Wow! Everyone should listen to this book!!!
What a thoroughly enjoyable book from the very start! Im not usually one to listen to military books but I am so glad I did.
A Vietnam war vet, telling his story , no need for another synopsis here as already done in the book summary.
Complex, Compelling, Awkward, Hilarious, Honest, Heartwarming is just some of the words I will say! Absolutely Brilliant from start to finish ! Thank you Matthew Quick for bringing this book into our lives, and Thank you R C Bray for the outstanding as always narration
