Summary

Luxury villas on hot white sand, views for miles over turquoise water.
Flawless hostess Penny gathers guests to an island for her husband’s birthday celebrations.
But she soon regrets inviting self-obsessed Eloise…

When a child vanishes on the night of the party, their perfect island weekend is ripped apart. Even paradise harbours murky secrets…
Has he been taken? Has he drowned?

In the panic to find any trace, Penny casts about for someone to blame—even if that person is her own daughter, Rosie. Even clear waters descend to pitch black…

But it’s not the first time Rosie’s been attacked by her mother. And it’s not the first time she’s turned to Eloise for support.

As the sun beats down and dark secrets rise to the surface, can they find the missing child before it’s too late—or will this sudden disappearance endanger them all? …and someone among them knows the whole shocking truth

Repetitive - Story Recaps Felt Like Fillers

I rarely give a bad review, being of the generation of "if you can't say anything nice, then say nothing at all" but in this case, I really struggled to listen to the end. The characters were, in my opinion, lazily sketched stereotypes which made them neither relatable nor likeable from the start. I felt my intelligence, whilst not brilliant sadly, was being insulted with each plot and character recap. Towards the end these repetitions felt like fillers to reach a certain word count. The story itself was weak and I found little to encourage me to suspend my disbelief.
That said, I am glad that I got to the end!

Exciting storyline

Brilliantly read, kept me interested the whole time. Pictures of the island painted perfectly with words. Loved it

Enjoyable

Really good read but wasn’t keen on the ending as I thought it would have more of a twist than it did.

The Rip

Too repetitive The story was dragged along using the same narrative and the same description.

Good if not a little bit annoying…..

Great performances, the story was easy to listen to and the characters believable. The storyline was a bit far fetched and the character Eleanor made some stupid choices that I just couldn’t fathom. Overall though, a good read!

Doesn’t grab you sadly

Had quite high hopes but the story and performance aren’t gripping unfortunately. Found myself not concentrating on it a few times.

Excellent Book. Hard to stop listening

Excellent story. Very twisty and interesting all the way to the end. I don’t usually go for these books but the story line was exceptional

Slow start

Very slow story line up until missing child. Narrator was monosyllabic - not enjoyable to listen to.
