Summary
Performed with duet narration by Teddy Hamilton and Vanessa Edwin!
The first rule of handling PR for a hockey team? Never hook up with a player.
That shouldn’t be a problem since the last man on earth I want to give an image makeover to is our goalie. He’s infuriatingly hot, famously grumpy and lives to spar with me after every game. But shining up his rough edges is my path to landing the promotion I desperately need, so I grit my teeth and do my job. No matter how hard he makes it (especially with that sexy smirk and cool blue eyes.) As we travel from pose-with-a-pet photo opps to cuddle-a-kitten fundraisers, we bicker like it’s foreplay. Turns out it is. Because as I get to know the man behind the broody iceman exterior, it’s me that melts–right into his arms as he devastates me with a kiss that turns into the hottest, most forbidden night of my life.
Only once turns into every night as Max shows me how much he wants to take care of me. His possessive touch makes me feel adored for the first time in my life.
But the man is entirely off limits and I can’t risk my job for more of those soul-deep kisses.
Because the only thing worse than hooking up with a player is falling head over heels for him.

Excellent as usual
Loved the book, characters and narration. Love Teddy! Only niggle I had was the storyline on Everly’s parents felt incomplete after introducing them, a few home truths should have been told to them! and Max never got an Everly pole experience🤣

Dual narration brought this book to life
A fabulous enemy to lovers’ grumpy/sunshine romcom as Everly finds herself having to give Sea Dogs goalie Max Lambert aka Beast an attitude makeover. The grumpiest goalie on ice who loves to make Everly’s life as difficult as possible is her latest project and failure is not option if she wants to win the promotion she’s after, the only thing going in her favour is, with his sponsors dropping like flies, Max needs this makeover to work just as much as she does but at the same time he can’t resist pushing her buttons especially once he finds out about her penchant for silky underwear
I loved Max and Everley together, their dynamic was fantastic with their deliciously wicked and hilarious banter, their sparring and flirting as they struggled to keep their hands off each other as they swung from enemies to near lovers before swinging back to hating each other again amused me no end. With obvious scorching chemistry between them it was only a matter of time before they gave in and jumped each other like two cats in a sack. Throw in a hint of forbidden with workplace romances a no-no just made that temptation all the sweeter when they gave into it just once but what happens when once isn’t enough and they both want more. I also loved the friendship between Everly, Maeve, Fable, and Josie. It showed it doesn’t matter if you’ve known someone all your life or only for five minutes, you know when you’ve found your tribe especially when they’re willing to do pole dancing lessons with you. With great story telling, well rounded characters and not forgetting copious amounts of flirting that had me smiling throughout, The Romance Line is a five-star read for me.
The dual narration provided by Teddy Hamilton and Vanessa Edwin brought this book to life. Together they imbued all of Max and Everly’s passion in their performances. Teddy’s portrayal as the dirty talking Max was seriously good while Vanessa’s portrayal of Everly was sunshiny throughout while still showing all her frustrations with Max. Definitely a pairing I’ll be happy to listen to again in the future.

"One kiss and I'm addicted. I don't want him to stop. I want him to take me apart." 💕
Another great Lauren Blakely read 💙. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy of this book to review 📖, but as soon as I saw Teddy Hamilton was the narrator of the audiobook, I knew the audio would be amazing and I needed to buy it on Audible 🎧. So I listened to it instead and I was not disappointed. I always really enjoy a duet narration and this was no exception. This was a fun story with decent spice 🌶️ and the HEA 💕 I always want in a book. I was a little bit mad at the almost third act break up but was glad that didn't properly come to anything as it kinda came out of nowhere and for no reason. 🌀
But overall brilliant audio and a good book. 💜
