THE SUNDAY TIMES CRIME NOVEL OF THE YEAR 2023
________

Private Detective Cormoran Strike is contacted by a worried father whose son, Will, has gone to join a religious cult in the depths of the Norfolk countryside.

The Universal Humanitarian Church is, on the surface, a peaceable organisation that campaigns for a better world. Yet Strike discovers that beneath the surface there are deeply sinister undertones, and unexplained deaths.

In order to try to rescue Will, Strike's business partner Robin Ellacott decides to infiltrate the cult and she travels to Norfolk to live incognito amongst them. But in doing so, she is unprepared for the dangers that await her there or for the toll it will take on her . . .

Utterly page-turning, The Running Grave moves Strike and Robin's story forward in the epic, unforgettable seventh instalment of the series.

Best Strike novel yet

Gripping story about a very disturbing subject. well written & whilst shocking in places it really sets you thinking about how so called cults prey on & manipulate people. Full of twists & turns especially in the last few chapters. Despite being quite long found I couldnt stop listening as the story moves along at a real pace. Cant wait for the next instalment!

Absolutely brilliant! The best Strike novel so far.

This is a really riveting read. The Agency take on a client whose son has broken all contact with the outside world and become indoctrinated into a quasi religious cult. In order to assess the son’s well-being, Robyn volunteers to infiltrate the cult undercover. As Robin becomes more deeply embedded into this community the emotional, physical and psychological toll on her increases. She is challenged at every level by the power of the cult and it’s charismatic, narcissistic leaders and we witness her struggle to retain her sense of justice and her connectedness to Strike. It’s a masterfully written, very triumphant book. I absolutely recommend it.

Too long and pretty gory

I usually enjoy the Strike books , but unnecessarily long and detailed and the Chinese sayings at the beginning of each chapter wearing and irrelevant. Well narrated for such an epic.

The best one yet

Like many other reviews, I couldn’t stop listening. It totally pulled me in with all the plots, stories and characters. Robert Glenister is, as always, brilliant as the narrator. Really hope it won’t be long until the next instalment- especially because of the ending and leaving you wanting more.

Wow, wow, wow

In my opinion, the best so far in this remarkable series. Wonderful narration by Mr. Glenister again but, oh boy, I bet he was tired by the end. The only reservation I can drag up is that it will be 2 years before we experience the next personal step for Robin and Strike.
Well done J.K. and just keep 'em coming. Please??
