Summary

Welcome to the new and improved Joliet Prison. It has cleaner restrooms, better food and a better way of life for all it's inmates. Of course, Lyle Seigel is not impressed. He's doing a stretch for grand larceny. All he has now is time with the other degenerates that inhabit the prison. But when he gets roped into a cleanup crew, the prison starts to change in odd ways. Now Lyle must find a way to protect himself in a world he hardly recognizes.

Loved the narration of Glynn Holmes Sr, whose deep voice will have wanting to listen to all of this book

Oh boy, this book may be 2hours long, but it keeps you on your toes. Starts off slow and finishes with a punch. As it goes along we find out why a prisoner who is sentenced to 10 years gets a chance for parole in 5 and why he gets to be called The Sandman Cometh. Making it all come together. A very compelling story.

Oh. My. Goodness!

This is a clever, weird and oddly compelling story. I’m not sure what genre it is, because it’s not one that I’m familiar with, but having listened to this, I would certainly investigate other titles by this author.

It’s a slow burn narrative about life in prison, from the pov of an inmate who is sentenced to 10 years with the chance of parole after 5. That’s as normal as it gets!

I can’t think how to say anymore without giving spoilers, so I can’t think of the words to encourage you to Just. Read. It!

I was given this title free, for an honest review by the narrator who, by the way is just Perfect for this tale. I am glad to have received it because I doubt that I would have come across this title ordinarily and I would have missed out on a really interesting and intriguing story.

Despite it being a slow burn, it was over far too quickly for me. I highly recommend this “Shawshank” tale. (That’s all that you’re getting from me. The title is aptly named).

A unique story with a slow burn which holds you captive throughout

To begin with, I couldn’t see why a book about a prisoner would be called The Sandman Cometh, but oh what a joy to get there.
The narrator is perfect for such a story with his deep, gravelly voice, which whilst gripping you also manages to be relaxing at the same time.

I highly recommend this audiobook. Go and grab yourself a copy for a fun and compelling listen! A solid five stars from me.

Many thanks to the author for a free copy via Audible’s promo code.
