Summary

After the death of her husband, Ellie needs a change to her life and enrolls in a garden course in Tuscany. Here she begins relationships with her fellow students. Nerine, an eccentric character in her 70s, and the much younger Max. Through the teaching of Salvatore, who runs the course, Ellie finds that universal truths are still potently relavant.

Critic reviews

"What a deeply satisfactory ending. It is full of hope, and a sense of rightness...which I for one want from a book. (Bel Mooney)
"Lyrical prose, a good, strong storyline, plenty of soul searching, and last minute revelations all add up to an excellent read. (Nottingham Evening Post)

Tuscan Promise Unfulfilled

I found this book over-long, although it was well read and moderately interesting. I was disappointed that there was very little of Tuscany, or gardens, in it and was irritated as the book went on, by the increasing references to God and 'faith'.
