About this listen

Anna Hemingway decides it's time for a fresh start. So Anna and her three-year-old daughter move to a cottage in the village of Little Somerby, where she takes over the running of the village tea shop, and they start to find happiness again.

Throughout a whirlwind year, life blossoms. But when history seems to be repeating itself, Anna must find the strength to hold on to her new life.

Good story

A good story, the plot is a good story but I’m sorry this has to be the worst narrator ever, Mary sounded like a butch tranny and Ellie a puppet. Had to finish the story but hated the narrative

Nice light hearted story - main character so dull!

I bought this book to accompany me during commuting times and it didn't disappoint. It reads easily, grips you with its narration and is quite romantic despite the many cliches.

I had two issues however that spoiled it some times for me: 1. I am sorry to say that Anna is rather dull....I could not identify with her at all. The author did not provide enough insight into her thoughts or behaviour to make her that extra special; she takes everything in, in an annoyingly stoic way. Most other characters had more soul and jazz to them.
2. I liked the actress who read it, but for some reason at times it seemed almost robotic...

Great story

The reader was little bland in places almost emotionless in parts a bit too fast in others

Nice story. Shame about the narration

the narrator has a depressing tone and her choice of deep masculine voice for a teenage girl very distracting.

liked the story

The story was good and easy to follow. However, the narration was terrible! She made the characters sound really old, and the voice for the teenager was dreadful!

A TAD BORING

This was about second time love of a divorced man and a widowed mum, both having a daughter each.
The main character starts her life with her tot Ellie by buying a teashop where her parents live.
I listened to it all, the descriptions of what they were doing to each other was not needed and it should have been left to the imagination.

The narrator did not do her job very well and the characters voices sounded awful.

I would have been disappointed if I had to use a credit on this book but I didn't as this listen was FREE to listen too through the Plus Catalogue included membership 🌠

surprised by how much erotic content

The first few chapters really made me get to know the characters but then it seemed like every other page was a detailed description of what they did to each other. So I stopped listening and scipped to the end of the chapter to find the next chapter was yet another description - in the end I gave up altogether.

There was no indication that this was the case in the otherwise I wouldn't have chosen the book.
Rather disappointed 😞

Boring, too much sex and nothing much else going on.

Liked nothing, narrators depiction of a 15 year old girls voice sounded more like a 40yr old navvy. Had to give up before the end.
